Guest guest
Dear Forum, We would to like bring notice of you the following things happening in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital(CMCH),Tamil Nadu. In Coimbatore Medical College Hospital around 5000 HIV/AIDS Infected are coming for treatment , and Opportunistic Infection treatment is fully neglected for the PLHA. If positive people admitted in wards also not getting proper treatments. For the needed cases the surgery is totally avoided by the surgeons. Majority of the People comes to the Medical College Hospital are belongs to the below poverty line, so if treatment is neglected in government hospital they are totally helpless. The ART doctor is not visiting the Positive people admitted in the wards, also there is no coordination between the ART doctor and other doctors for the treatment of PLHA, so this all result in negligence of treatment of positive people admitted in wards. Also the ART ward nurse appointed for the ART Center is also not taking care of the ward patients, but she does the job of the Pharmacist, So she is not able to visit the wards. TANSACS still not appointed the vacant post pharmacist . Traditional way of filter paper method is still used in ART lab to measure the Hb Count of the patients, some time this gives the false result, and this reading is used for the prescribing ART. If with false Hb count, Zidovudine is prescribed for patients will result in anemia . The blood bank in the medical college is under the administration of Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society(TANSACS), But for the positive people the blood is not provided in the needy situation. Our Governments does many good things for the up liftment of the positive people, But still in the grass root level we have to make changes, we says in words that we provide treatments, but how far it practically done? How many surgeries done in government hospitals for the positive people till now ? This is not the situation coimbatore alone, majority of the Hospital condition is same. Hope things will change in near future, and government officials will rectify the situation With Regards Covai District HIV Ullor Nala Sangam (CDHUNS) Ph-04224504250 Email-cdhuns@... Guest guest
Dear Forum, I agree with CDHUNS that even after 20 years of HIV/AIDS activities in Tamilnadu, Doctors are avoiding surgeries for PLHIV and the authorities are also ignoring this reality. TANSACS should reply back to the grievances cited by the PLHIV in the forum and this is also not happening and TANSACS is shying away from all issues. This is not a good sign.
