Nayla,

I was able to get my PCP to prescribe LDN for me (4.5 mg at bedtime). He looked at the website I referred him to and some printouts and said "well it can't hurt you". Now my Neurologist does prescribe it but I felt my PCP was concerned with my overall health and not just my MS so there was a better chance to have him prescribe it (and he did). There is no "proof" that LDN will help anything but it won't put you in the poorhouse and there is lots of 'anecdotal' support. Hope your doctor will support your request.

Larry

a bit of a one sided question

Sorry to take up space for an issue that won't concern everyone.....Irecently upped my LDN dose to 4.5. Not long after that I startedhaving regular hot flashes throughout the day and night. I readwith interest the posts about increased menstrual cramping as I alsoexperienced that after upping to 3.0. I know I am in theperi-menopausal stage of life and the hot flashes could be completelya result of that alone. I am wondering if any of you gals - or thewives of you guys - have had the same experience. Thanks, Deb

I had the opposite experience re: hot flashes. I am 51 and my hot flashes have practically disappeared. I have been using LDN for pain management.

Dr. Bihari does not have an email contact. Someone here with the phone number to his office can send it to you. Bihari phone consltations in the past were $500.00. There are other Doctors who will do a phone consult much cheaper. Contact Crystal on this forum for the cheaper phone consult doctors.Dr. Jaquelyn McCandless may be able to take your case via long distance. You can contact her for her fees. Dr. McCandless' email contact is jmccandlessprodigy (DOT) net

LDN/dogs/Dr. Skip?

I have a 12 year old German Shorthaired Pointer that if I didn't know better would say she is having an MS flare. She woke up this way this am, her gait is off and she almost walks like she is drunk. I've checked her for ticks as I know they can cause a temporary paralysis but there are none. I am wondering if LDN would be of some benefit to her. I have a friend who is a veternarian (who I will probably take her to this weekend), just wondering what the dose would be for her.And do you have the names of a veternarian in PBCo that are familiar with the use of LDN in dogs? Thanks so much. And here's to a happy and healthy new year for us all!!

Re: Auto - antibodies Lab Results (ANA) for those considering LDN

Hi Abby,Well.... I just got my lab results back -- and I'm bummed(disappointed). Not only did my TPO (thyroid antibodies) test higher, but also my ANA jumped back up to 132 -- which makes me 'positive'again. I'm trying to identify what I did differently this testing round andthe most significant change was that I changed from daytime LDN dosingto night-time dosing. I can't imagine that this change in dosingschedule would cause an INCREASE in antibodies --???-- I was expectingthe opposite since so many of the MS folks say that the LDN night-timedosing produces MORE endorphins. I also take a lot of supplements. This last testing round I also was NOT as consistent about taking the extra selenium and niacin that Ihad been taking in previous testing rounds --- so perhaps that's afactor. --??? -- Selenium is known to reduce TPO, however, I had thereduction in TPO early in my LDN trial before I started taking extraselenium...so the reduction I had clearly wasn't just related to theselenium. The truth is that there are SO MANY variables that affect antibodyproduction that the increase I experienced may have NOTHING to do withsupplements or the LDN. I do know that this last month I've hadincreased body aches...and am now thinking that it may be due to theincrease in antibodies....???.... geeeeez ~who knows. ??ANYWAY....just thought I would share my latest results. Best wishes,Jann
