Guest guest
Ok, this is like odd and I cannot figure out what is wrong... For the past few months I have been having this prickly tingling sensation in my neck under my jawline. (both sides, feels like the lymph nodes) It's off and on. No rhyme or reason to it. I will just have a few days when it does this, and then days when it doesn't. I don't get a fever or sore throat or get sick. Just this sensation like you get if you ate a lemon or something really bitter. The sensation is constant during those days. Coincidentally (or rather not), I have been having bouts of facial pain that we cannot pinpoint a cause for either. It mimics atypical neuralgia. I have not yet linked it to a tooth problem (yet). I have had tmj most of my life, but it has never caused anything like this in terms of pain or affecting my face. (doesn't mean I am ruling it out..just that I can't find any documented symptoms like this in relation to tmj, nor has my tmj ever cause this in the past) I also have two cavitations, but they are on the other side of my jaw. Not the affected side. ?? I just had a long lasting 6 day bout of this neuralgia on the right side of my face. (excruciating I tell ya). It seems to occur every 6-8 weeks or so. Anyway, finally, the pain is gone and the soreness, dullness of my cheek on that side has gone away. But today..I have got that tingling in my glands again. I don't know how but it's connected somehow. Because that same sensation happened for a week before this recent neuralgia episode. As I said..it's very odd, I can't find much information online so I am just plugging the general public for any ideas or anyone whose had anything like this happen. Or what I should check into. I am on OLE (1,000 mg), Lysine 1,000mg a day in case it's some weird viral problem. But honestly, I don't feel sick, and it does not seem to have made any difference in stopping the attacks or the prickling. I am on Armour (1 1/2g) and HC (17.5 mg) for thyroid, chromium and adrenal cortex, gse, probiotics. But this problem began last fall, before I had all those respiratory and ear infections I had all winter. Was not on Armour or HC then. I saw an ENT who wanted to remove my enlarged tonsils which are not currently infected. Just enlarged. Have been enlarged since I was a kid and don't bother me. I can't think of anything else relevant. Describe the neuraliga: It begins as pinching, itchy, tingling pain in my lower jaw, and gums/cheek. It then intensifies into a horrible sharp, boring pain down the side of my face, it can make either the upper teeth hurt, or the lower as if I just kryofroze all my teeth at once. The episodes of intense pain last anywhere from 5-20 minutes or until I numb it with clove oil. Sometimes I can calm it by pressing my thumb into the back of my mouth at the jaw and pushing hard and holding it (pressure point). Other times this doesn't work. When the intense pain has subsided I am left with dull pain, sore cheek, and tingling that extends to the lower front teeth. Usually these episodes last a few days. Then stop..for no reason known to me. Things that aggravate it are eating, cold breezes on my face. However, normally when not under " attack " these things are fine. I do have one tooth on that side that is sensitive to cold/hot. I don't chew with it much. But I had it x rayed and was told it's not abscessed. (at least last fall it wasn't). However, this tooth has been that was for almost three years. Oh, and also the nerve bundle in my cheek is swollen during these attacks. I can feel it, it's sore, painful and swollen. Not so much that my face looks swollen but you can feel it. Gums look normal. And during these attacks, the pain is in many teeth, or all the teeth. So it's hard to say it a tooth. ....hopefully someone out there can spark some ideas for me to look into because this is the worst to live with..
