Guest guest
I think a liver function test a short time after you begin is definitely a good idea, just to make sure you don't have any significant liver issues, that may or may NOT be related to chelation. However if everything turns up fine, after that I don't think you need to check it nearly as much as DAN's usually do when they are following their dangerous chelation protocols. When we first started, we had a liver function test and everything was OK. We have been chelating for over a year now, and just had bloods done again recently and ALT and AST scores were fine. We have also used liver life a bit, and milk thistle a bit more. Milk thistle has been shown in studies to be AMAZINGLY effective at supporting and repairing the liver. Of course if you started to see signs of liver issues like strong abdominal pain and jaundice, I would definitely stop chelation at that point and get tests done to try and identify what the problem was. You could also keep some N-acetyl-cysteine on standby, which has been used in emergency rooms for years for liver failure patients and has an excellent track record of success. However I really don't think its going to come to anything like that following Andy's protocol. iflow97 wrote: > > I am concerned about prolonged use of DMSA. Both being mercury toxic and detox of mercury also are stressful to the liver. So, um, that pretty much covers all options. > I was just wondering what others have done who have used DMSA for weeks on end. Am I > worrying unnecessarily? So far our son has been ok. I don't really have an answer to the testing question at the moment, and I didn't use DMSA. But here are some other things that are also options: --use ALA only for chelation (or use DMSA some of the rounds but not all). ALA is actually HELPFUL to the liver. Things that are helpful to liver: --acupunture --fenugreek sprouts --beets (in moderation) --artichokes (related to milk thistle!) --low or no exposure to chemicals, air pollution, etc. (This includes household cleaners, shampoo, pesticides on food, etc.) --low or no intake of meat/dairy (more so for commercial meat/dairy, less of a problem for organic/no hormones/etc.) I'm sure I used to have a longer list that I could rattle off LOL. Oh -- also ozone cupping over the liver -- this one is on the list " just for drill " -- most people reading this won't have a medical ozone machine handy -- and the learning curve is long and initial entry cost is high. Then again, most people have never heard of fenugreek sprouts or even milk thistle, so you never know what will be of interest or use to someone. --dandelion (leaves or root) --coffee enemas (read Max Gerson) None of that is meant to detract from milk thistle, which is kinda " the main herb " (for liver). good wishes, Moria
