Guest guest
Dear members, Re: /message/10176 I really appreciate the response obtained on my earlier positing on 28 April on- strategies to reduce vulnerabilities of women to HIV. While many people appreciated the effort taken to document the contextual factors that foster vulnerability of women to HIV, others have provided useful resource links. This research is significant as the rate of feminization of the epidemic in India is increasing and more and more women who are not involved in transactional sex are getting infected in India. In other words, more and more women who mentioned that they are in a monogamous sexual relationship with their husbands are getting infected. Further, there is an understanding among programme managers and policy makers that increased vulnerability will lead to increased risk taking behaviours. Hence I would appreciate if members can share some more specific experiences of programmes that has combined HIV prevention with alternate income-generating skills and opportunities to women, improving women’s sexual and reproductive health, violence against women, improving life skills, micro credit programme, collectivization of women, crisis interventions, trafficking etc. Looking forward for your support. Thanking you, Sherry ph PhD. e-mail: <sherryjoseph@...>
