Dear Forum,

I met Mr. Ramesh (name changed), Age-35, Weight-37 kg and CD4-964 on 29th of

July 2009, at RML Hospital,Delhi.

He was there for treatment with his younger brother for some brain

problem/disease. While interacting with Ramesh; I came to learn that previously

he was working abroad. And because of his health complication he came to back to

India for treatment only to find out that he was HIV positive.

The client is on pre ART and registered under the RML Hospital ART

Centre. As he was very weak and his weight was too low only 37kg, he was

referred by ART Centre to OPD Emergency in RML Hospital, for further

investigation.

However they examined the client and simply give some glucose injection and

discharge him after 6 hours.

Because of his health problem I approached the Care Homes for admission. And the

care homes are not ready to admit him, as he was very weak. The Care Home

authority is telling me We can't admit any serious patient, but only admit those

clients who are on ART and that is also without any serious health complication

as per the DSACS guideline for Care Home.

The client now has nowhere to go for treatment and he is a bachelor

looking after by his younger brother, who has no knowledge of HIV/AIDS.

So my humble request to the forum is that what we shall do now as Ramesh health

is deteriorating day by day. Both the hospital and Care Home are not ready to

admit him.

Who will take care of him?

Regards,

Jay Prakash
