Dear Forum,

The National HIV Social Science Research Initiative is looking to hire a

Research Assistant. Please see the description below for details on how to

apply.

Overall Job description

Assist the Research Consultant and National HIV Social Science Research Core

Team on research methods, analysing data, project management and organizing a

national consultation.

Task Description

Assist the Research Consultant in the following tasks:

Arrange interviews with people who can provide information about

HIV social research needs in India

Check reference materials such as books, news files, and public

records in order to obtain relevant facts.

Conduct interviews; develop a database on HIV social research in

India, researchers and the research themes

Research and analyse background information related to HIV social

research priorities

Provide logistical assistance in organizing a national

consultation on HIV social research priorities

Write commentaries or reviews that interpret HIV/AIDS related

social research issues or offer opinions.

Prepare the report of the conference

Follow up with paper writers and compile the presentations for

publication

Desired Skills

Knowledge about HIV related social research in India

Knowledge of HIV and its link with gender, vulnerability of marginalized

populations, social structures and Human rights

Knowledge of social science reference searches

Detail oriented and ability to prioritize tasks

Knowledge about and ability to use: Microsoft Office, Internet and

Library Resources

Further Job Details

Location: Based at TISS, Mumbai

Salary: Rs. 25,000

Duration: 12 months

Education:

Masters in the social sciences with experience in research (2 years

research experience preferred) PhD (preferred)
