Guest guest
> > My 6 yr old is on amoxicillen for tonsilitus. Thanks Sheila > Depends on how you look at it. If you give probiotics right away while on the antibiotics, it will not interfere with the antibiotics but some might consider it a waste of probiotics since the antibiotics will still be killing everything in sight (including the probiotics). So some people would say to wait till done with the antibiotics. On the other hand, maybe it is worth taking the probiotics even though most of the helpful organisms in there will get killed. Any way you count, the probiotics will not interfere with antibiotics. The only issue is that they won't be as effective because the antibiotics kill the probiotics (which is why probiotics are used to try to " repopulate " ....) So, lots after done with the antibiotics, for sure...... Moria

Guest guest
I got rid of that with iodine, and salt water gargles. Albeit, hard to do on a six year old. But after having tonsillitis probably 15 times in my life...and refusing any more antibiotics.... I painted my tonsils will iodine for a few days, Gargled with the salt water a few times a day. and it went away. This was an old remedy doctors used years ago, before the invention of antibiotics. But four hours between antibiotics and probiotics. > > My 6 yr old is on amoxicillen for tonsilitus. Thanks Sheila >
Guest guest
I don't know an exact number, but as far away as you can depending on the dosing schedule of the antibiotics. I've found that giving probiotics during the antibiotics is helpful...Last time I did it with my son, the diarrhea he usually gets with antibiotics was greatly reduced. Also, for myself..since I started eating yogurt when I take antibiotics, I don't get the usual vaginal yeast infection that was the norm for me before. It must be doing something to help me like that. (Max's Mom) > > My 6 yr old is on amoxicillen for tonsilitus. Thanks Sheila >
Guest guest
What sort of iodine did you use? Did you rinse it out or leave it? I have had tonsilitis for a year now and would try anything. I have so many infections that it is unreal. Caryn > > > > My 6 yr old is on amoxicillen for tonsilitus. Guest guest
I used sodium iodine drops from Hulda clark but you can use betadaine or potassium iodide drops too I beleive. I just put it on a q tip and brushed it right on each tonsil. I did this two nights in a row, as well as gargled with some drops mixed in water in the morning and then used salt water gargle a few times a day. I was desperate to get rid of it. I was running a fever off an on, and some glands in my neck were even swollen. The doctor did not want to give me anything and instead sent me to head/neck doctor. All they did was look at me and say I should have them out ASAP, because one was larger than the other, but both were really enlarged. I have had enlarged tonsils since I was a kid. But they got bad this time. I decided I was not doing surgery. Ripping them out did not address the reason they are inflamed in my opinion. Plus they are part of the lymph system and their job is to catch the germs in the throat. So I chose to be stubborn and keep them, which began my search on how to treat it. I had read of doctors doing that back in the old days to cure tonsillitis and I had nothing to lose. They " painted the tonsils with iodine " This cured the infections. So I tried it. And in two days they were better. > > > > > > My 6 yr old is on amoxicillen for tonsilitus. Thanks Sheila > > > > > >
Guest guest
When on antibiotics, I usually try to give the probiotics about 2 or 2 & 1/2 hours after the dose of antibiotic, and at least 2 hours before the next antibiotic dose is due. And I usually give the probiotics at least twice a day during this time. I really think it helps to give them while on the antibiotics, and not just waiting until the course of antibiotics is finished. Hope this helps, Sheri (pharmacist and ASD mom) > > > > My 6 yr old is on amoxicillen for tonsilitus. Thanks Sheila > > >
