What is the Health Internship Programme? The Health Internship Programme is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international health programmes. This one year scheme is designed to enable participants to develop the necessary skills to launch a career in global health with Save the Children. This is an exciting time for Save the Childrens programme and policy work in health, the focus of which is the critical issue of child survival. Our vision is that within five years no child under the age of five dies from preventable causes and public attitudes will not tolerate a return to high levels of child deaths. Our goal is that MDG4 is achieved. This means that child mortality is reduced by two thirds in 2015, saving the lives of almost six million children each year. The Health Internship Programme is expected to contribute to these objectives. As an intern you will follow a short orientation programme in the Save the Children London office. You will then undertake a ten-month placement in a Save the Children country programme. You will work alongside health professionals and will receive coaching to facilitate the development of the skills required to manage health programme work. Applicants should have either a health-related qualification or experience of working in a health programme in a low or middle-income country. We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates from low and middle-income countries.
