Guest guest
Dear forum members It seems that the difficulties and problems posed by the circumstances are growing leaps and bounds, it seems that there is no end to it, except to live with them being deprived of their services which are meant for the affected people. Here in Nagpur city with a population of about 20 lacs, nearly 15,000 PLHAs are registered with the ART centre i.e. GMC and IGGMC for the treatment and are required to under go regular CD4 count test regularly, but alas there is only one machine at the GMC which has very high limitations, since last three months due to some technical reasons only limited number of samples were collected due to this the regular CD4 count was not being under taken of the PLHA on ART. It seems that the negligent nature of the authorities has taken the toll, and now the machine is told to be out of order. On the 5 /10/09 near about 100 sample were collected and sent to the GMC the collected samples will be of no use and will be wasted if the machine is not repaired within two days, same incidence had took place on10/9/09. Here I would like to pose a query, that how many times a PLHIV has to come to the center to give the sample and have the test done? With out the assurance of getting the report/result of the same. This is a cause of major concern which hampered the pre ART LFUs are on rise, and the PLHA who come from far flung areas to get the test done have to go back disappointed, this has affected their health further more as the ART centers from where the medicine are provided are unable to take proper decision on starting of the medicine, this will prove them to be ineffective and there samaritan services will be withdrawn in near future. I here by appeal to the concerned authorities to wake up from the deep slumber and take corrective measures for the well being of the PLHAs. My concern here is that Is the SACS not in a condition to provide CD4 machine at IGGMC ART center itself, which according to my view is having enough infrastructure to handle the same in a appropriate way. I am aware of the norm of SACS, of one district one machine, In GMC sample are received not only from IGGMC but also from the district places like Wardha, Chandrapur and so on. This might be a sort of overload on Machine and often there are failures according to my view, if there is a provision of a backup machine it will prove a boon for both the patients and the administration will be in better situation to take decisions.
