Guest guest
Sorry, I stopped watching after a couple of minutes because I couldn't connect or agree with anything that he was saying. Is this you or someone you know? Guest guest
I agree . This video seemed so irrelevant to my life. I'm so proud of the efforts my daughter makes, even if to others they seem so small. I couldn't give a toss what others might or might not think. I haven't got time for that crap, worrying what others might say or think. Phil.... you obviously like making videos. I think your time would be well spent doing a " " type thing and chasing down guys like Offit and asking him how much money he's making from poisoning people and babies. Now that's something I really want to watch! Strozier wrote: > > Sorry, I stopped watching after a couple of minutes because I couldn't > connect or agree with anything that he was saying. Guest guest
hi this is me...i made the video and posted it. you really should have watched it till the end though...i understand that its hard to hear a lot of what i'm saying...i really do. My son lost just about all of his speech by the age of 4 and was totally in his own world. Life was black. But now he is what many people would call recovered...biomedical intervention, RDI, and understanding got me here...so this is what I show on youtube and the understanding part is what this video was/is about. give it another shot or watch my video " face of recovery " . either way, thanks for your feedback! Guest guest
Hi Pete, I think you might have misinterpreted the video and me...i live for the small changes in my son...live for them. I actually don't like to make videos and really don't want to be bothered with it anymore...I am being totally honest. But I cant leave other parents out there in the dark...cant do it. Watch the video to the end if you can...then watch the next one...see where im going with this ok? give it a shot! if not, well...then i do appreciate your feedback. Guest guest
Hi Phil, I'll always listen to what you have to say, even if I don't agree with it, because I think your intentions are always good, and I respect the fact you are trying to help people through what can be a very dark time in their lives. phil commander wrote: > > Hi Pete, > I think you might have misinterpreted the video and me...i live for > the small changes in my son...live for them. > I actually don't like to make videos and really don't want to be > bothered with it anymore...I am being totally honest. > But I cant leave other parents out there in the dark...cant do it. > Watch the video to the end if you can...then watch the next one...see > where im going with this ok? > give it a shot! > if not, well...then i do appreciate your feedback. > Phil > > > > > > > > From: phil commander <philcommander@... > > > <mailto:philcommander%40comcast.net>> > > > Subject: [ ] Autisms Dirty Little Secret Video > > > > <mailto: %40> > > > <mailto: %40> > > > Date: Saturday, November 22, 2008, 5:04 AM > > > > > > http://www.youtube. com/watch? v=R5v5ZeCrPvQ > > > > > >
Guest guest
I am extremely happy for your son and his recovery; you obviously did the right things. The problem I have is your generalization of parents with children that have autism. Personally, it has been those outspoken parents who are not ashamed that have helped me. I used to think that some people I met in person were ashamed of their children but I was wrong. In most cases they were tired of the NT being intrusive. My 2 cents..... Guest guest
I can totally relate to what he is saying, although I am not embarrassed for myself, but for ds. Ds has just started pre kinder and this is a totally different environment to his special needs school he has been attending(us parents there are all in the same boat). It's things like him not wanting to do the same things as the other kids and just wandering around the classroom that get me teary because it's in that environment that feelings really kick in and these are not feelings of embarassment, but feelings of HEARTBREAK for my child. Ds was offered a sticker at the wildlife park yesterday, but he didn't even realise that she was talking to him. She asked him again and I realised I just had to tell her that he has autism and didn't like stickers..she gave me the funniest look, as if she didn't know what autism is and thought it strange that a 4y/o wouldn't want a sticker..thing is, as I was telling her that he has autism, I couldn't look her in the eye. I just didn't have it in me to stand there and explain about autism to a stranger, who has no idea about autism. Guest guest
i appreciate your 2 cents...i really do. but i do think i state very clearly that not all parents feel this way. I do generalize (no doubt) but i did try and throw in that disclaimer too. And one other point i would like to make is that i feel there is a big difference in being ashamed of your kid and being ashamed of having an autistic child. I think the number of parents who are ashamed of their kids is very small and those kids probably would have made them ashamed even if they werent autistic...the problem is with the parents view of children, not autism. i do appreciate your feedback though! Guest guest
I've seen Philcommander's videos on youtube. I think he's knowledgeable and he knows his biomedical stuff. He simplifies things and most of all, he and his son inspire me and my hubby to always be on the lookout for other biomedical interventions that might help my son. Watch the videos with an open mind and you can only learn from it.
