Guest guest Posted August 5, 2009 Report Share Posted August 5, 2009 USF- India A H A R T University of South Florida Adolescent HIV/AIDS Research Training TITLE: India AITRP Project Coordinator STARTING SALARY: Depending on qualifications and experience LAST DATE TO APPLY: AUGUST 25, 2009 LOCATION: Vadodara, Gujarat, India ASSIGNMENT LENGTH: 2 years (renewable based upon funding) ABOUT THE PROGRAM: USF-India Program in Adolescent HIV/AIDS Research Training (AHART)focuses on building Adolescent HIV/AIDS research capacity in India. This program is a joint effort between the University of South Florida (USF) and the Vadodara Medical College (VMC) in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. Other Indian partners include Indu Health Research Foundation, Vadodara, and Vedanta Institute of Medical Sciences, Ahmadabad, Gujarat. This is one of the latest AIDS International Training and Research Program (AITRP) funded by the Fogarty International Center and the Office of AIDS Research of the National Institutes of Health. The major focus of AHART is Adolescent HIV/AIDS. The program capitalizes on past experience and current involvement of our faculty in the USF-India Center for HIV/AIDS Research and Training (CHART-India), the USF Pediatric/Adolescent HIV Program, the Adolescent Trials Network, the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group, the USF Signature Interdisciplinary Program in Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Disease (SIPAIID), the USF College of Medicine Divisions of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Infectious Disease and International Medicine, and the USF College of Public Health Department of Global Health. JOB DESCRIPTION: The successful applicant will coordinate adolescent HIV/AIDS research and training activities of AHART, by providing logistical support and technical assistance to partners in Gujarat, India. He/She will perform the following duties: 1. Coordination: He/She will provide coordination among India-based AHART investigators and coordination between India-based partners and US-based investigators 2. Communication: Regularly correspond with US Coordinator, PI and Co-PIs to report on progress and challenges in India. 3. Research and Training: He/She will collect and review trainee applications for completeness and answer applicant questions. He/She will provide logistic support for India-based training programs. He/She will assist trainees in research planning, proposal and grant writing, data analysis, report writing, manuscript preparation and other activities as needed to fulfill goals of AHART. The successful applicant will have verifiable experience in above areas. 4. He/She will assist India-based investigators in arranging US-India videoconferencing and other distance learning activities. 5. Travel: He/She must be willing to travel within the country to meet AHRT local partners as needed. 6. Other duties as assigned by AHRT executive committee. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: 1. MBBS or MD or PhD or Masters degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Population Science, or health related disciplines. 2. Three to five years of professional and administrative experience in public health, especially in HIV/AIDS. Experience in program coordination and research is desirable. 3. Strong analytical, English writing and problem solving skills. Candidate will be asked to present his samples of reports and publications. 4.
