08 Aug 2009 Kapurthala: More than 750 police personnel in Punjab's Tarantaran

district were tested positive for HIV and Hepatitis B during a medical check-up,

a senior officer of Punjab Armed Police (PAP) said today.

PAP Additional Director General of Police J P Virdi said that over 750 police

personnel in the district alone were found infected with HIV and Hepatitis B

virus during the check-up at a recent medical camp.

Virdi, who visited PAP service training center in connection with the

'Vanmahautsav' campaign, said Punjab Police was serious about the health of

their personnel and spend a large amount of money on their physical well-being.

He said that about 38,000 police personnel were trained in this center since its

inception about 20 years ago.

The center had imparted training to policemen of Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir

and Uttrakhand, he added.
