Guest guest
Hi Moria. I followed your advice and lowered both the DMSA dose and the ALA dose, the former from 15mg per dose to 10 mg, and the latter from 5 mg per dose to 3mg (I did those 8 little piles you recommended) this round, and my son is doing great again! No more stomach pains. He is calm and eating well again, and verbalizing. You were right the dose was just too high. Who would think there would be such a big difference between 5mg and 3 mg? And the 15 mg dose that was tolerated so well alone and on a 3/14 day schedule, was not tolerated with ALA on a weekly schedule. Thanks so much for the help. How long do you recommend to stay at this lower dose, until there is no more progress at this level? Thanks again. Irene

How long > do you recommend to stay at this lower dose, until there is no more > progress at this level? Actually all I did was encourage you to do what you thought was needed. And that is exactly what I would suggest going forward: I suggest that you keep doing what you've been doing: watch and keep track of all the variables -- doses of ALA/DMSA, how long between chelation periods, other health issues (e.g. illness, changes in supplements), how he is feeling and responding. If you don't already do so, you might consider keeping a written log about these things. I expect you'll have a much better idea about when to change the dose after a few more rounds. I don't think there's much " trick " to this -- it's observation all the way. Watch, make small changes, watch some more. Obviously you are going to take care and make small changes in dose.... and then you'll know whether to make more or larger changes or whether to pull back.
