We are chelating on our own. We do have a naturopath, but we only see

him for blood tests and MB12. The rest we do. We did get out Doctor's

Data hair test from our naturopath, but that was just buying the kit.

We did the hair test and sent it off ourselves.

We've done 13 rounds so far, just finishing up round 13 today. We are

learning what doses work for our daughter now. You will get to know

when your child's yeast is bad from chelation as well.

In my opinion, this protocol can be done on your own. You can try

every other weekend for a while and a very low dose to start out. We

are only at 3mg ALA.

We don't have a doctor to support us for the chelation. The doctor we

did have wanted us to do all sorts of harmful chelation protocols so I

had to put my foot down and tell him sorry, we're doing it Cutler

protocol. He wasn't very happy, but its not his child and he is

completely misinformed.

So sometimes its good if you have a supportive doctor, but other times

if the doctor doesn't really know what he is doing, it can actually be

worse because some of them want to bully you into doing it their way,

and sometimes " their way " is dangerous for your child and could cause

damage and regression.

My ped would/will sign for any testing I want to Great Plains. We lost of BCBS

but when we did, Great Plains would process our insurance and it was totally

covered.

Most here are on their own and chelation with the Cutler method can be totally

done on your own with the help of following this site. Honestly, I felt we

needed a Dr. but I've had a ton of luck on my own, reading, researching, buying

stuff via the web and knowledge here is better than any Dr. in my eyes!

Should we chelate under someone's supervision? How many of you out there

chelate on your own? I want to use Cutler's protocol to chelate my 4yo, and

I'm not sure if I'll be able to find someone who will be willing to read his

book (well, maybe my nutritionist).

Also, I want to have his hair tested for metals by Great Plains. We have

BCBS. We don't see a DAN or anything (there's only one in the area, and he

doesn't specialize in chelation). Is it worth finding a MD, ND, chiro, or a

nutritionist to sign off on the test, or pay for it out of pocket?

Is it pretty easy to have a ped sign off on the test? Ours seems to be

pretty open to referring us to specialists upon my request. Plus it's just a

test, so I don't see why she would refuse. Or am I too naive?

TIA!

I have a lab medicine background, so I wanted to see the test results

before chelating. The lab tests (we used Doctors Data and did urine,

blood, stool and hair heavy metals) came back that my son was

positive for 7 metals. Fortunately, we have two clinics here in TX

that do chelation under DAN! protocol. Also, it is mostly covered on

our insurance under doctor's care. The chelators you can buy OTC are

out of pocket expense, and we are getting metals done now pre and

post every chelation treatment as well as liver enzymes and minerals

checked to ensure safety. The clinic we go to has done chelation on

thousands of kids safely and effectively...but you really need to do

labs to make sure there are no adverse side effects like

calcium/zinc/magnesium/iron deficiencies.

As you read the posts on this website, you will find there are many

reasons why you need to know what you are doing with chelation. I

would get under good care of a DAN! doctor if possible.

Hope this helps,

We chelate on our own. We have an ND who would test if I wanted him to,

but I don't. I'm sure he will be happy to discuss the results of our

chelation and consider Cutler protocol should there ever be reason for

me to have an appointment and the subject be broached, just hasn't to

date. I feel quite comfortable with the info I get here and from Andy's

book. You don't necessarily need someone else to read it.

FYI - any testing that isn't covered by insurance can be deducted as a

medical expense on your Schedule A when you file taxes, if you are a US

citizen. There was a post about this a while back which came directly

from IRS documents. Self-prescribed testing is a deductible expense,

not just doctor prescribed.

Some docs are pretty easy going about letting you lead, others feel

threatened and revolt. If you are trying to work with a doc, just be

aware that they may not like such input from a parent.

Whatver you think is important.

I chelated four kids, and myself, on my own.

I tested " by observation " .
