Guest guest
Does anyone know where I can find the composition of gold inlay / onlay dental material? I asked this question on a dental list and got no answers so I thought members here might know. I am so frustrated right now in my efforts to find a dentist who knows how to remove amalgams safely and who uses safe materials. I've found two dentists and both use inlay / onlay (gold). I can't find the composition of this material though and would appreciate help in finding the answers. Is the gold inlay filling OK for someone who intends to chelate? The dentist is totally overbooked and his secretary has the usual French customer service skills (none) so I can't get this from the dentist's office at the moment. And my appointment with the dentist is in 3 months! Thanks,
Guest guest
My understanding (from what I've been told) is that gold (used in dental work) is never JUST gold, it is always mixed with other materials. With that said, there are different types and mixtures, so there is not one answer to what it is made of. If the dentist's office won't answer questions, that doesn't give you many options. (If answers were possible I'd ask for the phone number of the lab that MAKES the inlays.) Other option is a different dentist, but no doubt you've considered that option. I have some gold in my mouth and I actually got a sample of the material from the lab (before the crown was made) and had it " muscle tested " by someone I trust. That's no guarentee, but it's what I did. Obviously, I had to work with the lab, though, in order to do this. Gold is generally / often okay (although I'm not sure any dental material is really " perfect " .) GOLD should NOT be placed in your mouth if you have ANY amalgam in your mouth -- the combination sets up a very toxic condition. Get all the amalgam out first.
