Guest guest
Ever since my son's hair test results came out, I was researching like crazy about the source of antimony poisoning. My husband and I are critically examining everything around us that could be the reason or the source and we can only clearly pinpoint to the tempurpedic mattress we have. Whenever my husband sleeps on this mattress, he cannot wake up. After 8 hours of rested sleep, anyone would expect to be fresh and energized but my husband would feel drowsy and actually feel faint at work. He was sick for the entire 2 years he slept on this mattress. Always drowsy and fatigued. Anyways after our kids were born, he moved to another bedroom as he needs his full night of sleep and the kids sleep with me. Although he sleeps for only 5 hours on the other bed, he is much healthy and whenever he comes and sleeps with us, he feels sick. Something defintely is fishy. I breastfed my son for 1 year and I found articles which said that toxins from offgassing of mattress chemicals enter breastmilk and everyday my son slept on this mattress. I feel terrible now that I put my son to bed on a poison bed. Does anyone have any input on this? I have to replace my mattress soon. Any reco for good organic toxin free mattress? Thanks, Maya. Guest guest
I've been looking into wrapping our mattress as well (DS and I sleep on a full-size bed), and even though polyethylene plastic is easy to find, food-grade one isn't! I called the manufacturer to find out what's the difference between food-grade vs non-food grade poly, and she said they put more additives into non-food grade (to improve slip, etc) that she recommended I'd look for food grade to be safe. She gave me a number to call, but the guy is out until Dec 1. Uggg... There's one website that sells a mattress wrap that's made of 6mil food grade polyethylene in non-crib sizes, and I sent an email but never heard back. http://www.offgassing-mattress-wraps.com/mattress-wraps.htm I think greenhouse plastic uses polyethylene and is food grade. I'm going to call around some more and see if I can get a big roll of it.

Guest guest
Hope you don't mind the question. Is this tempurpedic a memory foam type bed? Is memory foam type products bad for off gassing?
