Guest guest
Our Gl doctor is finding a lab on the internet to do a urine test for Strep B. Is there a lab you recommend and is there anything else we can check for at the same time that may be helpful? Thanks, Densie
Guest guest
Hello Sharon, I've had the pleasure of urine collecting like you - didn't know about the tumours though, I always thought it was a test for Cushing's/Pituitary. I was without hair of any description for 3 years a while back, so am very grateful I have an almost head of hair now, but having tufts resembling the top of a coconut is irritating, I know. Having received a copy of some of my blood results (supposedly all of them for the past 10 years) the lab had consistantly marked raised white blood count with an exclamation mark and I asked why I had not been told about it, the answer: "its alright its Normal for You" Yup normally ill !!! Along with this was a low within range B12 result and a TSH of 2.94 - a recipe for disaster. Needless to say I have changed my GP, collected information and joined an action group that works with the NHS to help provide a better service called LINk (Local Involvement Network), there should be a group near you. Put your anger and dissatisfaction to work in a constructive way, I still feel awful, but at least I now have a voice and I'm meeting people and you never know something good might come of it! Love Plant Jane xxx Urine test Hi, Im confused about this urine test thing.I had to do a urine test about 2 years ago in big plastic containers, over I think 2 days. Not sure, but I think 1 was pm collection and the other was am collection,so I dont know if it is the same test.I eventually found out that it was a test for a rare cancer on the kidneys, where the tumours grow on the outside of the kidneys, but are normally benign. My results,as usually, were borderline and they didnt want to refer me to a specialist.I managed to convince them,as a negative result is a negative result. The consultant basically told me I was wasting his time and there was nothing wrong with me,theres a surprise! To this day I dont fully know what the test uncovered,or what the outcome of not knowing has had on my health. Best wishes Sharon
Guest guest
I too have been without a lovely head of hair, actually it became quite horrible, thin, straight, dull and falling out daily until I had very little left. About a year ago, I decided I was so disgusted with it that I shaved the lot off, and bought a monofilament wig where you could see my scalp through the wig - looked very natural and nobody noticed the difference from when I had a good head of hair. Now, it has grown about 3 " all over, but it still looks a mess. I honestly doubt it will ever grow back again properly. Even though I am well and well treated with natural thyroid extract, some problems still remain. As they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em - and this is what I did with my wigs. I was without hair of any description for 3 years a while back, so am very grateful I have an almost head of hair now, but having tufts resembling the top of a coconut is irritating, I know. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, It is frustrating, isn't it! And it is a real palava collecting all that wee only to be told " normal " or whatever and not to have any proper explanation of what it was all for. I posted my results on the photo gallery a few months back thyroid treatment/photos/album/129316335/pic/\ 1798949608/view?picmode= & mode=tn & order=ordinal & start=1 & count=20 & dir=asc Does any of that look similar to your tets? The tests I had were for 5H1aa (3 days of containers)and 1 day container for catecholamines. To this day I have no idea what the GP was checking specifically and am still plagued with severe body-swelling and joint pain resulting from the pressure of all that fluid.
