Guest guest
I'm no political expert, but when I saw this announcement I was curious about his stance on autism and vaccines, etc. (Here is announcement: http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/11/19/1681517.aspx) I found a quote from Offitt (boy he never stops spinning and spinning) after the msnbc article. His comment consisted only of a quote from Daschle (undoubtedly trying to stir people up against him): " a quote from Tommy: As you know, the cloture vote will be held this morning, and Senator Lieberman and I filed an amendment yesterday that deals with all of the egregious special interest provisions. There is a provision, as you may know, that provides liability protection for pharmaceutical companies that actually make mercury-based vaccine preservatives that actually have caused autism in children. It wipes out all of the litigation. " The quote is from Daschle's remark about the the Homeland Security Bill back in 2002 that included a rider to exonerate Eli Lily from litigation from vaccine injury. Here's the link to his quote and other's rsponding: http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/congress/july-dec02/security_11- 15.html (If you didn't know that, yes, it is shocking. It was removed later.) It is remarkable that Daschle went on public record saying that mercury causes autism. This was back in 2002 and perhaps he's had " scientific studies " presented to him that have changed his mind, but hopefully he has realized how flawed they have been and will have an open mind as he leads this country's health care system. At least at one point, he was sure enough to connect those dots that he said so publicly. I don't know much else about him and don't mean to stir up politics here, but I thought that was of interest to all on this group.
