Kate,

I've not done either, but will comment from the reading I've done while

trying to make the choice for chelators for our family. 1st - IV is a

not a good dosing method since your child would have to be hooked up to

the IV every 4 hours to dose properly (maybe every 8 for dmps), which is

highly unlikely to happen. Also IV often uses too high dose and ignores

half-life which is why redistribution can happen and cause more

problems. DMPS was ruled out fairly quickly at my house since it

required a prescription and we wanted to do this without having to

consult a doctor. DMSA orally is safer, doesn't need a doctor's

prescription, and can be dosed easily on the 1/2 life without any

special arrangements. You just give the child their dose ever 4 hours.

You can also adjust the dose amount so you are using a low dose, which

is safer and causes less reaction. DMSA should be dose at 1/8-1/4 mg

per pound of body weight, starting at the lower and working up slowly

after many rounds if you see no negative reactions. You can even start

lower.

We ended up going with ALA here after all the study. We don't have a

lead issue, so felt ALA was the best option for us.

I used dmps....caps.

my dr. was worried about his yeast. dr was hoping dmps would cause less of a

yeast problem than dmsa.

e still needs supp to control yeast.

I use only ala now. I wished i would have used it sooner.

(This is not specifically to you , just a general point for new

members to keep in mind.)

Yeast is something that needs to be kept in check, but new people need

to keep in mind that a fear of yeast is no reason to leave mercury in

the brain.

has raised an important issue. I know of some doctors that are

so caught up in the yeast issue, that they have been stringing some kids

along with yeast battles for over 4 years, and getting the mercury out

of the brain is something they might " get around to " once they have

overcome yeast.

What if they NEVER win the yeast battle? What happens to those kids?

We were having significant and ongoing yeast battles, particularly when

we started chelation. But after a few months, the battles seemed to

fade away, and now we have not seen any yeast issues for over a year of

Cutler protocol chelation.

A perhaps more important reason for using DMPS over DMSA would be you

have a bigger issue with arsenic over lead.
