Guest guest
Dear Forum, Re: /message/11722 Unforunately pre-independance men had fought for women. Not the women themselves. Starting with Abolition of Sati by Raja Ram Mohan Roy, in transition from Mughal Rule to British East India Company takeover. Then Sarat Chandra Sen and other men depicted women as a force, and widow remarriage where young women became widows when they were married off to old men for security, and then calamity struck when husbands died. Perhaps half a century after Indian independance, women will take up the cause. Perhaps look to Professor Nabaneeta Dev Sen and other women including Jawaharlal's sisters, Vijayalaksmi Pandit and Krishna Hutteesingh. I unfortunately am a man.
