Guest guest
Dear all, I did not know of Dr Deodatta Gore before. But from the little I read about him from his colleagues' communication, he had a significant contribution towards the alleviation of suffering of AIDS patients. The passing away of a positive-minded person helping positive persons, that too at such an early age, is always a great loss. I hope others emulate his example. With condolences to his family and colleagues at the Guruprasad Trust, Amit Ukil e-mail: <amitukil@...>

Guest guest
Dear All, I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing away of Deodatta Gore. My deepest sympathies and condolences to his family. My first meeting with him was in the corridors of Avert office where he was representing his trust for a meeting. A non-descript 'official' meeting soon turned into a long stimulating session of brainstorming on topics that went beyond HIV. Our medical background and our shared interest in medical ethics saw us meeting on more than one occasion and paving way for numerous telephone calls and email exchanges. I particularly remember the occasion when I had requested him to write an article for a medical ethics journal that I was closely associated with at that time, knowing well that his failing health and his official committments would make it difficult for him to find the time. The humble and sefless man that he was, Deo not only agreed to writing it but also finished it in record time. One of the most endearing qualities about him was his affability. To me he was the quintessential 'gentleman' .I could not find any trace of ill feeling and anger during the time I spent in his company, a fact that many who knew him vouched. A noble and a kind soul in the true sense of the word. Many may not have been aware of the academic facet of his persona that somehow got lost in the long tireless hours of work with Guruprasad Trust. He was a trail blazer in his medical school during the undergraduate and post graduate days. Life is sometimes cruel to snatch such a wonderful person from our midst at such a young age. A man as humble and caring as him will always be remembered by those of us who knew him. Although we will miss him, we take consolation in the good feelings of our memories. His guidance and passion for the kind of work he did will carry many like me through their journeys both in their personal and professional lives. Guest guest
Dear All I was really sorry to hear the sad demise of Dr. Gore who was always very conscious about his health and about his way of life after being detected as PLHIV in 1994. After knowing his status he ran a clinic solely for PLHIV and also an NGO named Guruprasad, one of the affiliated district level networks of INP+ at Ratnagiri. I had several opportunities to speak to Dr. Gore personally and knew him as a proactive person who had dedicated his life in serving people living with HIV and their families at Ratnagiri and the neighbourhood. His clients to the clinic knows that his advises isn't hallow speech, but is a result of personal and often bitter experience. For a man who longed for death, Yoga coupled with medication kept Dr. Gore in good health for 13 long years. When we heard the sad demise of Dr. Gore, INP+ family deeply mourned and prayed for HIS SOUL TO REST IN PEACE We also thank Mr. Raju Reddy for reminding us to send condolence message to AIDS India Forum KK Abraham General Secretary, INP+ e-mail: <inp@...>
