Guest guest
Would you guys look at theses blood test results and help me interpret them for my friends son? I posted a few weeks ago about him having to drop out of college last semester due to erratic behavior that started in late Feb, but probably started with his double infections in Dec. He had a strep infection that required surgery to remove the pus and at the same time, he had mono. Please pardon the sarcasm but, the professionally clueless have him on antidepressants and he's raging...(sigh). They may end up changing his diagnosis to schizophrenia which would mean antipsychotics - more side effects. This 20 yr old never had psych issues before and the parents are absolutely beside themselves. Bloodwork done on July 19th. EBV Ab VCA, Igm 65 (normal shows 0-99) EBV Early Antigen Ab, IgG 35 (normal shows 0-99) EBV Ab VCA, IgG 1758 (normal shows 0-99) EBV Nuclear Antigen Ab, IgG 831 (normal shows 0-99) Antistreptolysin O Ab 168.9 (normal shows 0-200) Cytomegalovirus Ab, IgG Negative(parents think) His Glom filt rate was low, at under 60. The Dr.'s response was, " The mononucleosis test shows that you had a previous infection and that you are now immune. There is no sign of a reactivated disease. " The Dr. added, " He (patient) did not show any sign of a systemic medical problem adding to his illness. I am not convinced everything is ok. Thanks in advance for your help, Jackie
