He needs some zinc, that will stop the chewing.

Make sure they do not use metal fillings. Composite can contain

aluminum. So ask to see the MSDS sheet for the materials before the

appointment. Usually they use more than one product and you can choose

among them.

If it' s a holistic dentist ask for holistore or diamond lite.

At my house, chewing on things meant my son ate something [food or

supplement] not tolerated, and/or he had a yeast overgrowth problem.

For some kids, it means zinc deficiency.

Good info.

What does MSDS stand for? Also, will it spell out aluminum, or will

that be hidden in different terminology?

Material Safety Data Sheet. All products licensed in the US have them.

The dentist can print it out for you or give you the name of the

product and you can go to the companies website and print it. It is

used to tell employees what is in a product that they will be using.

It will disclose all the ingredients usually in plain english.

Including aluminum and fluoride. Some composites contain that too.

It might say aluminofluoride, or alum, or whatever..but usually it's

plain.

You an always post the ingredients here when you get the MSDS sheet.

We can help you with it.

I was not able to find a completely natural product that any dentist

around here would use. We were able to avoid fluoride and aluminum,

but not acrylates.

MSDS - Material Safety Data Sheet if memory serves correctly. To be

posted for almost every chemical, mineral, cleaning product used in

commercial/business settings. Says what's in it and how to handle in

case of spill or contamination.

MSDS=Material Safety Data Sheet, it lists the ingredients and certain safety

levels of various products. You may have to look carefully for the aluminum.
