Guest guest
Twist and turns of life. Sri Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi needs no introduction. Last heard, he was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha, representing the Rajganj constituency in West Bengal (India). He has had an illustrious career, starting with President of Youth Congress in 1970 to 1971. This talented person could manage to enter the Indian Parliament as early as 1971, when he was hardly 26. He even became a minister in the Union government for the first time in 1985, not even 40 at that time. Since then he has been everything, ranging from Parliamentary Affairs Minister to Information and Broadcasting minister. He had his fair share of achievements and controversies. Some of the include several bans of Western television networks, including a three month ban on AXN and Fashion TV, instructing Indian sports broadcaster Nimbus Communications to share broadcast rights for Indian cricket matches Doordarshan and so on. But there can be no doubt over the fact that he was among the topmost political leaders in West Bengal, all through his active political career. He has been an avid football enthusiast and is known to be a great fan of Brazil. In sum, he has been a person whose life and times everyone would like and love to emulate. But to be very frank, he had completely been out of sight and I for one did not even know where he was and which way. Till the time I read the news item today in Hindustan Times when I came to know that Sri Dasmunshi is in 'coma' for the last 18 months. One of the most active and agile persons- in coma. Doing nothing, being nothing, having an existence without any action or reaction. This is what Sri Dasmunshi presently is like. It is this fact that suddenly made me realize what the true nature of life is. And what actually is the reality of life. All of us are so active and feel ourselves so important. All of us have our own pride and sense of achievement. All of us are rushing all the time for one work or another. We have no time for others and think that this will go on for ever. But is it the fact? Was Sri Dasmunshi less active than any one of us? Or less powerful? Or less important? Did he lack in any material resources or medical treatment. As per the Article, all possible medical treatments have been done, so far no improvement is seen. His wife, presently herself an MP from the same place, Mrs Deepa Dasmunshi, an ex-film star is there besides him all the time, doing the best she can and hoping for betterment every single minute. I am also a wife, a mother and a daughter and can very well understand the feelings of Mrs Deepa. I must say I have generated very high opinion about this lady, who is doing a selfless service to her husband, while some other woman might have left him midway. I pray to God that Mrs Deepa's prayers and dedication are heard soon and her husband, Sri Dasmunshi once again becomes as agile, alert and active as he was once upon a time. Note- I send this Article to this group even if not directly related because the matters give us a very important lesson of life, which we all of us must learn, whatever our profession.
