Margaret,

You are exactly right about the iron ...take with Vit c to help absorption

and avoid calcium meds or food when you take the iron because it will bind

the iron and it willl not be absorbed.

Are you a nurse or health care provider???

For iron, we just use organic raisins and organic spinach. I found when

I was pregnant with my son, and I was anemic during the pregnancy, that

the supplements didn't do nearly as good a job. I stopped listening to

the ob/gyn and nurse midwives, dropped the iron supplement and added

raisins and spinach from organic sources. The next month, my iron was

back up to almost normal. They told me the iron pills (I hadn't been

taking) had just kicked in. :-/ Anyway, I wonder if my iron deficiency

during pregnancy, along with mercury burden, is relevant. So many

variables. So, now low iron just means we throw a box of raisins or a

spinach salad in more frequently. I've even been known to make a

carrot, raisin, walnut salad when I feel things are getting deficient.

We've had to supplement a lot of things, like calcium, magnesium and C,

but food still seems to work for low iron here.
