Guest guest
Hi, take a deep breath. Do you have a Whole Foods near you? Or Trader Joes? Both have lots of gfcf foods. If you want to order online Allergygrocer.com is good. Have you seen 's book 'Special Diets for Special Kids' (order on Amazon or try the library) really helpful. Taca.org has a long list of gfcf foods and what stores you can buy them at. I'm, going to give you some ideas of what my son eats. Best advice I got was to find or make the gfcf replacement for a food he already eats. Breakfast- organic,no nitrite, gluten free sausage, bacon or Canadian bacon, trader joes gluten free frozen waffles or panckake/waffle mix, trader joes mango fruit leathers, fruit, ricera blueberry yogurt (WF), Health Valley Corn cereal, gluten free hash browns, fried egg Lunch?Dinner- my gfcf chicken nuggets (or buy Belle and at WF), rice pasta or other gfcf pasta with tomato sauce (mine can't eat), organic, no nitrite, gf turkey breast on gf bread with gf mayo, cape cod potato chips, glutino pretzels, tings, veggie booty, cut up carrots, cucumber or raw green beans, Edys strawberry popsicle or you could have gfcf cookie. Snacks, applesauce, popcorn, rice crackers, Ians ABC gf froz french fries, etc Watch out for sugar, MSG and any other artificial colors or preservatives. Buy organic produce when you can. When we started which we did cold turkey...my son went on strike and rather than try the new stuff he just sulked and ate a lot of a few foods which were safe but in no way a healthy diet (fritos, gf french fries, soy yogurt (?) I let that go for a week or so. Then gradually he was hungry and his taste buds changed and he try the replacements, we tried a bunch, found stuff he liked (you can return anything opened to WF for a full refund) and we will come up to a one year anniversary in Oct. He has gained weight, his feet have grown, his pants are too short - none of those worries panned out. We saw great behavioral changes too. Good luck, wirtie me back if you want more help, Alison M -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: " angel " <angel_amundson@...> > Any info would be helpful--lists of things we can give our grandson > jacob who is 6-places to order stuff --- I have looked on the GFCF site > but still so overwhelmed-This site has been so helpful to us-what can > he have???? Guest guest
If you have Whole Foods Market and Trader Joe's in your area get their gluten-free and vegan lists of products. www.happycow.net lists veg-friendly restaurants and health food stores. www.glutenfreeregistry.com lists restuarants with gf items/menus. We like Bette Hagman's " Gluten-Free Gourmet Bakes Bread " cookbook. S S starting GFCF diet--help! So Overwhelmed!
