Guest guest Posted February 2, 2010 Report Share Posted February 2, 2010 Collective voice of 3000 HIV+ people in Gujarat The conference of People Living with HIV of Gujarat Gujarat State Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (GSNP+) had organized a state level conference `Sangathit Awaj (collective voice)' on 31 January 2010. Around 3000 HIV+ people from across the state had participated in one day programme organized at Preksha Bharti, Gandhinagar by GSNP+, UNICEF and GSACS. GSNP+ is working in 24 districts of Gujarat, out of which 22 district organizations are registered under Society Act. There are around 14,363 HIV positive people are member of GSNP+. It was the first time when around 3000 HIV+ positive people had gathered at state level conference from various districts of Gujarat. Objective of this programme was to provide platform for addressing issues and concerns related to HIV+ people, Ms. Daxa Patel, President GSNP+ briefs about programme. Various mediums were used in the programme like musical performance, plays on positive prevention, positive living and ART adherence and various games for children. Shri Jayanarayan Vyas, Hon'ble Chief Minister had given his gracious presence as a guest of honor and he committed to see in the recommendations like second level treatment, scholarship for HIV+ childrent etc issues. Over and above this, Mr. Mayak Agarwal, Joint Director IEC, NACO, Ms. V. L. Joshi, Principal Secretary and Commissioner Helath, Programme Director of GSACS, Mr. Pradip Gupta, APD GSACS. Dr Yogesh Mathur, UNICEF, Dr. Mevada, Reliance Industries Limited and Singer Pathiv Gohil were present in the programme and shared their views. This one day event had provided an opportunity to deliver presentations on matters and issues concerning PLHIV . The recommendations viz a viz achievements for supporting people living with HIV were shared and honorable minister of heath launched health insurance policy for PLHIV and strategy plan 2010 – 13 for GSNP+.
