Guest guest
Ministers have backed a ban on six food additives linked to hyperactivity in children. The decision follows a call from the Food Standards Agency earlier this year for the food industry voluntarily to remove the chemicals. The news is a major breakthrough for the Daily Mail's 'Ban the Additives' campaign. It follows research that found children became hyperactive when fed a cocktail of additives used in hundreds of products. Scientists argued many could be protected from developing Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - which can blight entire school careers - if the chemicals were removed from food. The suspect colours are Tartrazine (E102); Quinoline yellow (E104); Sunset yellow (E110); Carmoisine (E122); Ponceau 4R (E124) and Allura red (E129). Their removal would mean foods such as mushy peas would lose their vivid colours. From the daily mail. Una
