Guest guest
Does anyone have recommendations for a lab which will test 24 hour salivary cortisol. I have heard that no one will do this in the U.K. I have no problem in using an American or French lab. Are there any other types of cortisol testing which come well rcommended? Guest guest
Hi - What do you mean by 24 salivary cortisol? I have done two tests in the UK that ask you to sample saliva at 8am, noon, 4pm and midnight. That's not 24 hours, so perhaps you are speaking of something else? > > Does anyone have recommendations for a lab which will test 24 hour > salivary cortisol. Guest guest
Thta's exactly what I was looking for as I want to see whether there is a diurnal pattern. Where did you have it done? I'm confused because a U.K. doctor I know said she sent off to the States for a test kit because no one would do it here in the U.K. Is this an NHS test or private? Labbio in Paris do a morning slaivary cortisol for 35 Euros... zpapacarroll schrieb: > > > Hi - > > What do you mean by 24 salivary cortisol? Guest guest
In that case: http://www.gdx.uk.net/index.php Genova Diagnostics I don't know if you can order through them directly or not as mine went through my adrenal/thyroid physician. > > Thta's exactly what I was looking for as I want to see whether there is > a diurnal pattern. Guest guest
Just called and they said according to UK legislation all testing HAS to go through the doctor. Boy oh boy, these doctors have got it tied up good. The test is for my father and I know my mother will refuse to approach the GP for fear she will be ousted for trying to be better than her 'betters'. I wonder if Genova is in the states. Shall have a look. Thx zpapacarroll schrieb: > > In that case: > > http://www.gdx.uk.net/index.php <http://www.gdx.uk.net/index.php> > > Genova Diagnostics > > I don't know if you can order through them directly or not as mine > went through my adrenal/thyroid physician. > > > > > > > > Thta's exactly what I was looking for as I want to see whether there is > > a diurnal pattern. Guest guest
I am SURE Crestor made me have to start taking thyroid medicine. Maybe some of your dads thyroid meds are making him forgetful. Try this group, they talk ALL about the saliva test and adrenals. NaturalThyroidHormones/ 24 hour salivary cortisol test Has anyone here had a 24 hour salivary cortisol test done? From Pubmed studies I have been reading, I think there is a definite connection between adrenal insufficiency and cardiomyopathy and I would like to hear about any personal feedback from those who have looked into this.Reason for asking is that my father has just failed his driving test. He has cardiomyopthy and is on every NHS drug (beta-blockers, statins, ACe inhibitors, thyroid and gout mediactions as well as permanent antibiotics due to splenectomy) in the palette of the doctors. My mother is now convinced my father has Alzheimers and will probably try for drugs from the NHS. I have done 8 years of research and currently finishing up a masters thesis on the relationship between food and behaviour. I know exactly HOW to bring my father back from the brink but I need to get some tests done to prove to my sister and mother who the absolutely most bloodyminded and stubborn people in the world that something can be done.I am so angry I cannot see straight at the moment.j
