Guest guest
...and, your thought below - I > now take into consideration what could be absorbed by your skin, that > is totally icky. And have changed some daily habits in our house > accordingly No harsh, never mind toxic, cleaners, for one. > > My mental model about my body has change so very much. I used to see the human body as very distinct form the environment around it, solid, not easily penetrated by things. Now I kind of see us as microbe-filled spongy slime critters that leave behind bits of ourselves everywhere we go and pick up other crud along the way. In my home (with two people with a seriously compromised immune system), we've instituted stringent controls to keep nasty infections out of our apartment. Example: About 2 hours before I left work tonight, I ran into someone who mentioned they had a kidney infection (yikes!). I felt pretty ill after interacting briefly with this person. I came home and almost immediately took off my shirt and soaked it in water with peroxide and diet tonic water. After I got enough food in me to be warm without so many layers, I took more of my clothes off to soak. I then took a warm salt water bath and had my oldest son clean up every surface I had touched in the kitchen before my bath. Then I took some supplements and also used q-tips to wipe my nose out with quinine (diet tonic water). My son took a few similar precautions because of his exposure to me and my clothes and cleaning up stuff I had touched. On the upside, because of the recent conversation on list, I was able to suggest she pick up some watermelon on the way home from work to help her kidney(s) heal. She said she would. So I hope she gets well more quickly for having run into me. Peace.
