Guest guest
Francine, My son eats flax seed every day: freshly ground moments before he eats it- in flax seed grinder with ceramic wheels that do not heat up. I also get flax seed oil into some of his foods - salads, smoothies, etc. He eats really well for a 5 yr old. I was a bit of a stickler about nutrition when he started onto table foods and that has made life easier for us now. Ok, now listen as I go " duh. " The whole reason I was looking for omega 3/6 is because the DAN (the one who messed up in so many ways) told me he " should " have EPA/DHA and NOT just flax, alone. And why, oh why, am I not looking into that advice further? This IS the same guy who gave soy laden products to a soy allergic kid - TWICE. I've had a hectic schedule lately, and apparently I am suffering from head- up-butt exhaustion, to not even think of where that suggestion came from and check it out further. Information overload. So are you saying I don't need to supp omega 3 & 6 - EPA/DHA if he gets plenty of flax? What about vitamin E? I'm trying to get his supplements on track so we can get started on the metals after the holidays. The only reason I went to a DAN was to get testing done, and see if he seemed at all willing to be on board with us, so we had a doctor, on record, guiding his care. The second visit was where he offered all the things no DAN should do. And so thanks to reading this group's advice for awhile now, we knew to run away fast and hard...screaming into the night! ism-Mercury , sunrose101@... wrote: > > Dear , > > I'd watch Dr. Dina's video that Sharon posted, if you haven't yet. Guest guest
Dear , First a hug. What a great mother you are! Secondly, tell me about the grinder with ceramic wheels, please! That's why I got this flaxseed I mentioned, because I was using a vitamix which can chop up wooden blocks! It would be much cheaper for me to grind Whole Foods organic flaxseed at $1.99 a pound! Please, tell me about it. If you can find any quiet time to watch Dr.Dina's video, he can explain it much better than I. The dha is from freshwater microalgae; I think I said it's the stuff the fish eat. I think what I got from listening to Dr. Dina is that in case we're not making dha -- or enough dha -- from the flax omega 3's, then this supplement could be a good idea. Maybe you can call or email the Drs. Dina (husband and wife). That's awful about the DAN doctor; some are good, some not, apparently. Maybe you could email the Autism Research Institute about what happened? (not meaning to give you still one more thing to do!)(and yes, it helps to be a 'stickler' right from the beginning. Me too! Giving you another hug, Francine p.s. and hoping I answered everything coherently on barely 4 hours sleep and a lot of abuse. We've been on a roller coaster here. epiousian = the expression of agape quite a bit more than enough **************Make your life easier with all your friends, email, and favorite sites in one place. Guest guest
> So are you saying I don't need to supp omega 3 & 6 - EPA/DHA if he > gets plenty of flax? My son needed preloading after mito cocktail, before he tolerated fats. I had to start him on Omega 6 [evening primrose oil] for several weeks. After that, he tolerated Omega 3,6,9 [flax] for several months. It was only after that that he tolerated straight Omega 3 [fish]. When I went from EPO to flax, he improved. When I went from flax to fish, he improved more. So for my son, he needed the fish oil. Dana
Guest guest
Francince, Here's a link: http://www.fantes.com/grain-mills.html scroll down a bit, it comes in black or white. Ceramic blades don't heat up like metal can when it has to work hard to grind something as tough as flax. My understanding is that the absence of heat keeps the flax oils released by grinding (milling) as unchanged as possible. I keep ours in the fridge. I pull it out, plug it in and grind flax on whatever we like. I started this over a year ago when I had a client who's daughter is an ND, shared with me that is how he ended his arthritic knee pain and went back to golfing 18 holes, 3 x per week. Without a cart. He's 75. I massage this guy - I could SEE the difference in how he moves, walks, range of motion, etc. He told me he eats 2 T's flax, freshly ground on yogurt every morning and within a month he was active again. He had pretty much sat for 2 years as his wife died of cancer, and he was grieving. So I reseached flax and decided to add fresh ground flax to my family's diet. Sorry you seem to be having a rough time, too. And thanks for the hugs - right back at ya! > >
Guest guest
Is this the one ? Under it it talks about a pepper or spice mill that uses ceramic too. The price isn't too bad. I thought it might be too expensive for us. It should grind chia seed too, which is supposed to be great stuff. There were American Indians I read who were so exceptional. They used to run about 50 miles roundtrip to their cornfields eating a little bit of chia seeds. That's a great healing of arthritis. Thank you for sharing it. You're a masseuse? How great! I wish you lived next door! You're right about flax. And what a wonderful idea, to keep the grinder in the refrigerator! In making the hemp oil, the machines are kept chilled, as well as the room, and this is how the oil is kept at low temp during the process. Any other great suggestions? Thanks so much.
