Guest guest
Dear Manoj, Re: /message/11514 This is a serious issue and government by trying to scuttle voices on EU - India FTA is seriously undermining the role of right to express dissent in a democracy. Law Minister must intervene to bail the arrested protesters. The Health Ministry must intervene to get the cases squashed against the protesters trying to express their concerns over EU India FTA. Guest guest
Dear friends, Re: /message/11514 This must be taken up as a human rights issue. I am sure Lawyer's Collective or Human Rights Law Network can help. We must petition against such actions and We must also join hands with others who have raising their voice against these kind of so called free trade agreements " trade liberalisation is not inherently welfare producing; it can produce, re-produce and even aggravate inequality and insecurity, social disparity at the same time as it expands wealth. India with its high growth rates and huge inner inequality and poverty is a good case in point. " I am sure many of us are working with those working on issues of fair trade; but we need to make the link (both ways) more explicit Shubha Shubha Chacko e-mail: <shubha.chacko@...>
