Guest guest
Just got back IGg allergy testing through our gp for dd. She has a low (+1) reaction to salmon (also avocado and pecan). Her labcorp testing showed low levels of efa's (this is what he said, i can't actually find it on the test). She continues with constipation, large stools. I wonder if anyone has dealt with a similar situation? We have an appt with her DAN in a couple of weeks. Her GP recommends dropping the fish oil (4 caps daily of nordic ultimate omega, 2 caps green pasture clo)and seeing if there is GI improvement (assuming salmon is in the same family as anchovies and sardines, which this efa is made of) , then possibly trying a seaweed derived efa? He is not a proponent of flaxseed oil. Any input wd be greatly appreciated. Thanks! olivia

When I first added EFAs, my son became horribly constipated. EFAs require magnesium for proper absorption. My son also required mito cocktail and a few other supps. As an example, I had to start with EPO [he also required preloading]. For four drops of EPO, my son required an extra 1000mg magnesium to prevent constipation. I wrote about it here http://www.danasview.net/mar05.htm >>Her GP recommends dropping > the fish oil (4 caps daily of nordic ultimate omega, 2 caps green > pasture clo)and seeing if there is GI improvement I could not give my son anything containing Omega 3 until I had preloaded him with Omega 6 for several weeks. I went from EPO [Omega 6], to flax [Omega 3,6,9], and only then could he tolerate fish [Omega 3]. Dana
Guest guest
Consider hemp oil or flaxseed oil or flax/evening primrose/borage oil.
