Hi . My son did not quite meet the counting rules, missed it just barely,

but Andy and

others here told me that he had deranged mineral transport. I haven't applied

the rules to his

new test yet, but I think he meets them this time around, more things in red. We

have been

chelating with ALA and DMSA for a few months. I do supplement with calcium, but

in

connection with another post about high copper, someone mentioned calcium can

cause high

copper retention as well. I do not think he is absorbing and processing the

calcium properly,

in light of what you are saying about boron etc. What is the right thing to do?

It was

suggested that I should stop the calcium supp to see if that affects the copper.

I don't want

to neglect his calcium needs as he is casein free. Would it make more sense to

supplement

with vitamin D? What is K2? Does that help with calcium absorption too? This

is so difficult,

and our doctor is not much help in this regard.

My son was calcium toxic, despite 2 years of cf without any

supplements. I gave him IP6 to eliminate the toxicity.

Then I researched which nutrients were required for proper absorption

of calcium. I found my son needed magnesium, vitamin D, vitamin K,

and lysine. Now he can eat calcium foods without problems, whereas

before, they would cause problems.
