They shouldn't hurt like that. Did it burn going in?

You can get it in the form of nasal spray but it's tricky to administer.

Subject: [ ] B-12 shot hurts like HE**!!! What other form can I

give him?

I have been giving my son Methyl B-12 injections at 2500 mcg for about

6 mos. Previously, he was on 1250 mcg for about 1 year. He has been

complaining that it really hurts alot lately. I started using LMX

cream, but he still complains that it is really hurting. Today, he

refused the shot completely, so I decided to inject myself. OUCH!!! I

feel like the worst mom ever! It stings soooo bad. What other forms

are there? Brands? I can't continue to put him in pain.

Thanks,

Annie

Is there anything else compounded in it? When we initially got ours

our DAN had it compounded with NAC and it burns like a wasp sting

going all the way down the leg! Now we just use straight MB12 and

refuse to compound anything else in. If not, I wonder if it's too

concentrated? Another thought is giving the lower dose more

frequently if you aren't already doing daily. If you are, maybe you

could give the lower dose shot and use the nasal spray for the

remainder dosage. Or you could switch to nasal spray completely.

Some people find the spray to be less effective, though.

Where are you getting your M B-12 from? We were using Park Pharmacy recommended

by our old DAN and had the same problem with our son. Our new DAN said Hopewell

Pharmacy has the best M B-12 avail and also gave us an Rx for EMLA Cream 60G to

apply 30 - 60 minutes before blood draw or injections. We just saw him today, so

I hope we see a big difference. Just thought I would share.

the B 12 shouts should not hurt. Call pharmacy and they will send you a

new batch. Chris

Where do you buy the oral sublinguals? My son has a pretty large meltdown as

soon he

sees the needle or the nasal spray. Too intrusive for him. When were were able

to get it in

him, he did very well...

I've been getting the shots from Wellness Pharmacy (mail order) for over a year.

He's always complained they hurt, but the higher dose put him in tears. It does

feel like a wasp sting and does not go away right away. I was near tears and it

took 10 min. with an ice pack. We started using LMX cream (5% lidocaine) after

I talked to the nurse. It helps the stick, but not the feeling of the b12 just

sitting there. I can't put him through this anymore. Where do I get the

sublingual? What brand is it?

Thanks again

Just a question does it have the folinic acid added to it? This makes the the

shot burn and hurt while injecting. If it does I would have them compound it

without and suppl the folic/folinic acid orally. Just a thought :)

Dana, would you mind reminding me the proper dosage for a 7 year, 75 lb boy, to

start on the B-12 sublinguals? I'm thinking I need to get our son on this soon,

and I really do not want to do the shots if I can avoid them.

Thank you,

Dawn

I started with 500mcg. My kids needed it with folic acid and

carnitine. When I first started it, my #3 cried and banged his head

until I added the folic.

It does tend to cause yeast overgrowth, so watch for that.
