I think this docs book is one of the best around, and you can download it

for the cost of the printing. http://www.whale.to/Vaccines/obomsawin.html

The video from Australia does the best of the lot

http://www.whale.to/Vaccines/books.html Something about watching doctors

talking does the trick.

The Mendelsoh book is good as it comes from a ped with plenty of disease

advice. Coulters book will put anyone off vaccinating.

Disease theory is quite important and Obosawin covers that well---other are

Sinclairs books, also Walene . Sinclairs one is the best for me--he is

a naturopath/natural hygienist. On a lecture tour here, UK, soon I see.

I would almost think about starting with the specific carb. diet (its harder and

stricter). I wish I would have started with that. The book about that diet is

Breaking the Vicious Cycle. There is also the website pecanbread.com.

For the gfcf diet there is the book special diets for special kids.

We saw a DAN doctor for the first time last week, and he wants my sonto go on a

gluten-free, casein-free diet. This is all new to me; I amwondering what the

best resource out there is. I hear good thingsabout " Children with Starving

Brains " --does that discuss and advise onthe diet? Also, he recommends a book

called " Nourishing Hope " but Ican't find it anywhere except for the author's

website, and I didn'twant to rush out and pay $30 + shipping, if I can get this

cheaper.Has anyone ever heard of this book? Also, if anyone has got advice

forsomeone just starting out on this diet (I think I need to take acourse in

this!) I'd deeply appreciate it. Thank you!Penny

It sounds more scarey than it is - My son has been on this diet since

May and he's made tremendous gains. The diet is hard in the beginning

because your so used to a routine. Once you begin and get into the

swing of it it just becomes second nature to you. Also once you see

improvements you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

The book that was recommended to me is called:

THE KID FRIENDLY ADHD + AUTISM COOKBOOK: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO THE

GLUTEN FREE CASEIN FREE DIET BY PAMELA COMPART.

This book covers all types of diets and explains how these diets

affect our insides.

Good Luck!

Hi ,

Why do you wish you'd started with the carb diet first? This is all so

new, I'm not sure where to turn first! I know it's going to be tough,

but I'm ready...I think!

hi, Penny -

" Special Diets for Special Kids " by . It's a cookbook, too.

We have been GFCF for about 18 months. It's easy at home. Kids birthday parties

and

school snacks are the tricky part to figure out, but we have done it (bring your

own). I

can't say GFCF has done anything dramatic for our kids, but I do see a

difference when

there are infractions, more tantrum-y behavior, to be specific. GFCFkids is a

discussion group you might think about joining.

Another popular diet is SCD or the simple carbohydrate diet. You can check

that out at

pecanbread.com.

Whichever diet you do, i recommend giving it a trial period of a month or two to

start. The

first couple of weeks may be an adjustment period for your son with possibly

some

negative behaviors. If your son is still having a hard time after a couple of

weeks, it may

not be the right diet for him. Because there are other culprits besides gluten

and casein.

Soy, eggs, whatever else your child might be sensitive or allergic to.

What you might do to start, if you don't already, is cut out all the artificals

- color,

flavoring, preservatives and see if that helps. Can't hurt, right?

Penny,

One ofthe things that the nourishing hope book can do for you is help

you decide which diet to use. I am biased because I edited the book,

but I do believe that it is the best book out there for making

informed decisions.

One of the reasons I volunteered to edit it was because so many of us

at the beginning are told GFCF--no matter what. I know GFCF does

help lots of kids, but the problem with that is no one is really

certain why that is PLUS there is often such focus on the GFCF part

that " healthy " gets lost. 's book focuses on healthy.

My own son did respond to GFCF but then lost all of his gains. I

asked dozens of people why this could be. Some of the most staunch

GFCF supporters had no answers for me except take out more foods. I

did, but nothing helped. It was very discouraging for me, especially

as I was often told that I must be doing the diet wrong. I wasn't.

The problem, IMO, is that the very people who really push GFCF ahead

of any other dietary intervention really don't understand why it

works. I too wish I'd just gone SCD first as I believe it is

healthier option (soaking the nuts if you use them--'s book

talks about this).

I hope I don't sound like an ad. I didn't/don't make any money from

the book.
