Guest guest
We are about to go from iv-dmps to oral dmsa, can anyone give me any feedback either good or bad about their experiences with oral dmsa. I would really appreciate it. I'm totally freaking out as I'm not sure about the switch, but my husband really wants to try it. Please..if you have any feedback on oral dmsa I would be so very grateful. Thanks to those who reply!!! I have no clue about this stuff. THANK YOU!!!!! Guest guest
I have been using it for almost three years. I have done 54 rounds on my son, and 37 on my daughter and 26 on myself. It's much safer than the IV, and that should help calm your fears. You will be using small doses porportionate to the child's weight, rather than the huge doses they were getting in the IV. Also, with oral you can stop it immediately if you see a problem. But honestly in three years I have not seen any problems using it. We do get yeast but we had that anyway, but I mean no sickness, no life threating problems, nothing like that at all. In fact, we usually feel better on it than off. We take the supplements Andy lists for chelation which include milk thistle for liver support and we also treat the gut with probiotics every day and antifungal for candida if it's there. I use natural antifungals (grapefruit seed extract) and it give it while on rounds to keep the yeast in control. I find that any side effects we've had were related to yeast not the dmsa itself. I was scared to use this the first time because I thought I might feel sick on it. But I didn't. I just felt more mentally clear, calmer. So it did not have a huge profound effect, nor did it cause any illness. So after almost three years, still no ill side effects or problems using dmsa. In fact it's essential in my son's recovery along with the ala. If it helps the IV stuff was actually risky, and what your going to be doing now is not. This is my website about recovering my son, there is page called " how my boy was " and you can compare that to how he is now. That's dmsa/ala in action! http://www.freewebs.com/mercurybabies/ Basically, treat your yeast, take the vitamins and minerals and use the proper dose by Andy and you'll be fine. Bad reactions are usually seen if using too high of doses or not using it every four hours. And even those reactions have not been horrible, but can be stopped by stopping the bad dosing protocol. We just always used it Andy's way and that works well for us. My son began at 12.5 mg dmsa/ala when he was three. He is six now and on 20mg of dmsa/16mg ala. Hope that helps! -- In , Kate Dorn <katedorn@...> wrote: > > We are about to go from iv-dmps to oral dmsa, can anyone give me any feedback either good or bad about their experiences with oral dmsa. Guest guest
We've done 4 rounds and haven't had any significant issues with it. My DS is better on round than off...he's calmer and much easier going. Yeast has started to be a problem, but like Jan said, we had that anyway. Since you'll be doing small amounts, try to get the 25mg capsules like they sell at VRP.com. It makes dividing the doses much easier. Also, a countdown electronic timer makes dosing much less stressful. You just reset it to 4 hours each time you dose and the alarm goes off when you need to dose again. Guest guest
Hi Kate If you look in the files section at the Andy Cutler -Dr. Schauss interview page 9 onwards. This may help to make your mind up. Kenny > We are about to go from iv-dmps to oral dmsa, can anyone give me any feedback either good or bad about their experiences with oral dmsa. Guest guest
I use a pyrex kitchen timer, small one with magnet. It goes in my purse when I'm out, on the fridge during the day, and by my bed at night. > > > > > > > > We are about to go from iv-dmps to oral dmsa, can anyone give > me > > any > > > feedback either good or bad about their experiences with oral > dmsa. > > I > > > would really appreciate it. Guest guest
I suggest doing only one round, then doing ALA from there on out. JMHO Our experience was this (5mg/dose every 3 hours): Round 1: afterward started asking questions which he never did before (he was a single word guy)...kicking started... Round 2: horrible peripheral neuropathy, hands and feet hurt, kicking stomping kicking stomping yeasty yeasty and miserable.... Round 3: horrible peripheral neuropathy, hands and feet hurt, kicking stomping....quit the round after middle of day two and never touched the stuff again. Of course, most say this is not typical. > > We are about to go from iv-dmps to oral dmsa, can anyone give me any feedback either good or bad about their experiences with oral dmsa. Guest guest
Hi Kate, I chelate my three kids and myself, all with combinations of DMSA and ALA. IME, DMSA can make us feel very emotionally fragile if we use too large of a dose, especially if the supporting supps are not given correctly. I've never done this with my ASD son, who after 100 rounds is still only taking a max of 12 mgs of DMS (he weighs 45 pounds) but I did do it to myself. I decided to try 50 mgs of DMSA and being very busy wasn't really careful with the supporting supps. It was quite awful, even though I did it only one round. So, now I stick with 25 mgs of DMSA as max. ALA is different for us. I can go 50 mgs of ALA, as can my oldest son (15 years) and feel great still. We don't go higher than that even tho ALA is supportive of the liver and a great antioxidant too--the pulls I've seen on my youngest son (with ASD) at very low doses have sometimes been really high and I don't want to claw out more metals than our bodies can safely excrete at one time. So, based on our experience, having a higher ALA to DMSA ratio has proven really successful. You cannot introduce ALA if you've had recent mercury exposure and you should start with only one. Most people start with DMSA and then add ALA at some point. The supporting supps Andy recommends are in the files section in the Supplement file (at the end of that file). Guest guest
Kenny, I got a Sunbeam kitchen timer from a hardware store, but it is cool that you can either count down or count up on it. It also has a Memory so in the middle of the night, you can just hit the Memory (which I have set to 4 hours) and then start. > > > > > > > > We are about to go from iv-dmps to oral dmsa, can anyone give > me > > any > > > feedback either good or bad about their experiences with oral > dmsa. > > I > > > would really appreciate it.
