I would look into bamboo flooring and make sure the particular brand

contains no VOCs or urea formaldehyde:

You might also consider Sisal and Hemp fibers. Both are strong and

attractive when woven into rugs or carpets.

There's also Jute fiber rugs.

My grandmother also has a " cotton rag rug " woven into a very large

oval shape which covers the entire room much like a carpet.

What is a good non toxic alternative to carpets ? We are considering

to remove carpets in our son's room where he spends most of the time -
