Guest guest
Dear Forum, Re: /message/11746 As I read in this posting, when it comes to total number of sex workers in the country, the Govt. of India goes by the number reported by the TI NGOs to the respective SACS. But I wonder whether there is any mechanism to verify and validate these numbers. Because in my experience working with TI NGOs, I have come across cases of fudging numbers to achieve mapping targets. Also I have never seen any internal mechanism with the implementing NGO to verify any new enrollment / registration of any sex worker in their data base. Also the data reported by TI NGOs are specific to those sex workers in the 'so called' hot spots. But as everybody know the 'hot spot' keeps changing.... but the NGO stops enrollment as soon as they reach their target given by donors based on some mapping work done before 3 or 4 years. So surely we are missing a huge data and also we need to validate the existing data to arrive at the numbers.
