Guest guest
We were prescribed the same thing for the same reason. We haven't started it yet. Maybe we have the same doc? Pamela From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of dana pope Sent: Monday, December 08, 2008 12:47 PM Subject: [ ] Neurontin for absence seizures? Anyone know about this medicine? My boys have been prescribed Neurontin for absence seizures to see if it will help with speech. They are completely non verbal and the doctor feels they are having seizures in the parietal lobe where speech is produced. Does anyone know about this medicine and good effects or side effects? Should we intro it now or after the holiday? Thanks.
Guest guest
My niece has Lymes. She was taking Neurotin to help with her " brain fog " . She said that it helped her to be able to think clearly and be more aware of what was going on around her. We could tell when she had forgotten it because she would drift off and sometimes not seem to be paying attention to what we were saying. She is not on the spectrum, and thankfully her Lymes has improved so much she no longer needs the Neurotin, but she says it was one of the things that helped her the most. Good luck with your children! Mona > > We were prescribed the same thing for the same reason. We haven't started > it yet. Guest guest
I personally took Neurontin for many years after a head injury in 1995, it has been replaced with a much more effective non narcotic - Lyrica. I had absolutely no side effects and it did the exact same thing.. it cleared that 'fog' that would occur when a peti mal seizure occurs.. it's more of a 'drifting off' kind of thing. I had to take much stronger narcotic meds for gran mals at first and that was very addictive and also hindered my ability to function as I wanted to - Thankfully those went away long ago and now I just take the Lyrica. It's better then Neurontin as you only have to take it twice a day and just one 300 mg. doseage handles a 12 hour period with literally no side effects after the initial first week when it made me tired. I hope for the best for your child. E. , Sr. The Office of Advocacy for Autistic Children > > > > We were prescribed the same thing for the same reason. We haven't > started > > it yet. Guest guest
Meminitos, I failed to let you know that the Lyrica Is also used heavily for 'Nueropathy' which is associated with Lymes. I haven't had a titer done in awhile - I contracted Lymes in N. Calif. and it wasn't detected until almost a decade later. Lymes is is known to mimick just about anything - at first they thought it was Lupes to all kinds of different things. After they started the Neurontin they gran mals subsided and the 'drifting off' did as well. I still take the Lyrica as it is replacing the Neurontin and doing an excellent job. I knew there was something missing from my response to your post ! E. , Sr. > > > > > > We were prescribed the same thing for the same reason. We haven't > > started > > > it yet.
