At my house, mouthing of objects was caused by food intolerance and

yeast overgrowth. For some kids, it means zinc deficiency.

my son's mouthing, along with his desire to eat spoonfuls of salt, did not

reduce with zinc; both things were greatly reduced with overdosing digestive

enzymes and clearing stuff out of his gut.  I think in our case it was the

discomfort that led to his mouthing.  he gave up the salt raids but was

occasionally still doing the mouthing.  we started him on ParaGone about 12 days

ago with a small break of three days in there for illness and the last of the

mouthing is gone.  I don't know if it will come back, but, there are a couple of

things you can try.

also what happens if the pacifier just disappears.  my son is a thumb sucker and

I know that we will be battling that VERY soon.  I'm starting to look for that

" icky tasting thumb " stuff to put on it...  anybody know what that is called and

if there is a safe version?

My son does tons of Mouthing, all day, of everything that he can get

his hands on. Toys, books, anything.

He is 2.9 years, GF/CF diet, MB12 shots (every three days), super-nu-

thera, Cor-Omega, Nystatin, oil of oregano, off-the-shelf probiotics.

Any tips on reducing the Mouthing ?

Zinc ? anything else ?

(also, behavioral tips welcome. We sometimes ignore his mouthing, we

sometimes intervene and re-direct -- we cannot ignore when he mouthes

Metals)

(also, he insists on having a Pacifier when he sleeps at night. Perhaps

this increases this craving for mouthing during the day?)
