Guest guest
I just called them. They said that the end product has no soy, that the soy has been distilled out of it. My son is not soy free though and eats soy products without a problem. Kerrie In a message dated 9/8/2008 5:04:31 P.M. [ ] anyone see negative with Vitamin E? Our DAN had us add a vitamin E product called Aqua E. He wants my son taking 1 tsp 2x a day. We've only gotten up to 1/2 tsp 2x a day and my son is overly emotional and whiney. Just wondering if this had happened to anyone else or if I should look elsewhere. Guest guest
Kerrie - I saw the Aqua E on New Beginnings website - says it is free of all the stuff it should be, but when it comes to the wording for soy it says free of *soy protein*, I have been educating myself on this phrase with regards to their products lately as I have been having some regression with my son and it's due to some of their other items (as well as other companies) that have the same wording. After talking with their wonderful staff, I found that when they say *free of soy* - it means *no soy at all* but when they say *free of soy protein*, it means that there is some soy (like soy lechiten) but that most kids can tolerate it and its usually the soy protein that most kids have an issue with, it just so happens that my ds is incredibly sensitive to all soy. Hope that helps - another thought is to see if there's anything-else that you have added in the same time frame that could be causing your son's issues. [ ] anyone see negative with Vitamin E? Guest guest
Kerrie, This can be a normal reaction of adding this supplement, and is seen as a " good thing " . I attended an apraxia presentation last weekend and the presenter, Dr. , stated that behavioral regressions are common in the beginning phase of this supplement, and this should pass after a few weeks (3 or so). She said it indicated that " it was working " .....helping the brain make connections and so forth. @...: click3times@...: Mon, 8 Sep 2008 14:34:16 -0700Subject: Re: [ ] anyone see negative with Vitamin E? Guest guest
Kerrie, We added Vitamin E (400 IU d-alpha/200mg gamma + mixed) about 18 months ago to my apraxic son's supplements when he was 3. Here is an except from another message board that I posted at the time: " The other big thing is that I increased the Vitamin E I was giving DS and added the " gamma " components. I was giving 200 IU of d-alpha Vitamin E and switched to a 400 IU d-alpha/200 IU d-gamma/small amount of beta/delta softgel from Trader Joes. BOY!!! YOU WEREN'T KIDDING ABOUT THE BEHAVIOR ISSUES WERE YOU? The Negatives: several days of physical hyperness, nap refusal, just generally bouncing off the walls. Also, for the past 2 weeks, defiant, difficult, just sheer stubborness, willfullness..... shall I go on? Almost like delayed onset " terrible twos " which DS has never had by the way. I'm trying to ride it out, but I had to call my husband and ask him to remind me that I love DS so that I wouldn't chuck him outside and leave him there. The Positives: Since DS is 3, this could be coincidence, but the timing lines up with the Vitamin E increase. Huge increase in imaginative play including more abstract ideas. For example, pretending to open an envelope, unfold a letter, and tell me what it says. All using hand motions with nothing in his hands and including sound effects like paper crinkling noises. Scenario play with his train track and trains including new scenarios that we haven't seen and read about. The ???: Sensory Issues seem about the same as they were before I increased the Vitamin E dosage. Still occasionally toe walks, hand flaps when really excited. " The brattiness etc. last about 3 weeks and then tapered off. However, DS never returned to the overly compliant child he was before the Vit E. Today, he is much more like a normal kid and his sensory issues are either very mild or almost gone. (Max's Mom) > > Our DAN had us add a vitamin E product called Aqua E. Guest guest
I had the same problem with Vit E having soy. I found a Solgar dry Vit E that is free of all allergens. Also, grape seed oil has vitamin E and is great for massages. Guest guest
- did you see a benefit from using it? Thanks! Guest guest
Most of the time vit E is sourced from soy. You may have to call the company to find out if it is. It's difficult to find a vit E not sourced from soy. I buy Kirkman's. > > Our DAN had us add a vitamin E product called Aqua E. He wants my son taking > 1 tsp 2x a day. Guest guest
No, but that doesn't mean there was no benefit. There are many things I do because in theory it is supposed to help the symptoms but I am unable to tell whether it helped or not because my son is so complex. I mixed it with selenium because they work together. > > > > Kerrie - I saw the Aqua E on New Beginnings website - says it is > free of all the stuff it should be, but when it comes to the wording > for soy it says free of *soy protein*, I have been educating myself > on this phrase with regards to their products lately as I have been > having some regression with my son and it's due to some of their > other items (as well as other companies) that have the same wording. > After talking with their wonderful staff, I found that when they say > *free of soy* - it means *no soy at all* but when they say *free of > soy protein*, it means that there is some soy (like soy lechiten) but > that most kids can tolerate it and its usually the soy protein that > most kids have an issue with, it just so happens that my ds is > incredibly sensitive to all soy. > > > > Hope that helps - another thought is to see if there's anything- > else that you have added in the same time frame that could be causing > your son's issues. > > > > > > > > > > > > [ ] anyone see negative with Vitamin E? > > > > Our DAN had us add a vitamin E product called Aqua E.
