Guest guest
Vitamin C is good, but not sure of other things during the pregnancy, like OLE or Echonisia/Goldenseal Natalia From: bty18626645 <ebrandt@...> Subject: [ ] cold and flu treatments Date: Tuesday, December 16, 2008, 12:23 PM Hi everyone I was really hoping that someone would be able to point me in the right direction re something I could take to help me keep going! Guest guest
Very quick thoughts...Hot lemon water & honey comes to mind. One of my own personal standbys I tolerate next to no medications, even when not pregnant, lolol - big sigh...Peppermint, ginger, (teas or such) if feeling nauseous come to mind. Epsom salt wipedowns might help with the feverish thing. what about herb teas? not sure which need to be avoided for preg...Raspberry leaf tea is inhaled here, and that is actually recommended for pregnancy We (super) stock up on grapefruit & avocadoes around here, when things start getting overrun with flu & cold stuff (yes, a weird combo, but works for us maybe pineapple would be one alternative, tho we don't do the canned, just fresh - could get pricey, depending wishing you the best, elizabeth > > Hi everyone I was really hoping that someone would be able to point me > in the right direction re something I could take to help me keep going! > I don't want to take over the counter meds as am in the early stages of > pregnancy and am wary of meds but am feverish and feel terrible and of > course the kids esp my asd kiddo are full of energy so any help v > gratefully received thanks for reading emx >

FWIW my family's been cooking with expeller pressed coconut oil (less expensive and not nearly so strong an odor/taste) for several years now and we seem to get fewer, less severe colds. OTOH there is also supposed to be a 'die off' reaction when starting to use coconut oil, so take it easy if you do try it. Guest guest
Ditto-ing the coconut oil thought - coconut oil rubdowns are huge around here - another " for everyone " thing Moreso during the winter. We did use coconut oil alot for cooking, especially during the first six months or so that was about 1-2 yrs ago...we don't use it for cooking quite so much anymore, simply because we really like our butter for cooking better wishing you the best, elizabeth > > > > Posted by: " bty18626645 " ebrandt@... bty18626645 > > Date: Tue Dec 16, 2008 9:23 am ((PST)) > > > >Hi everyone I was really hoping that someone would be able to point me > >in the right direction re something I could take to help me keep going! > >I don't want to take over the counter meds as am in the early stages of > >pregnancy and am wary of meds but am feverish and feel terrible and of > >course the kids esp my asd kiddo are full of energy so any help v > >gratefully received thanks for reading emx > > Coconut oil is known to be anti-viral, and it's been a common food > among many for ages so I don't see how it could hurt but advise you > to do some reading on your own too. > > FWIW my family's been cooking with expeller pressed coconut oil (less > expensive and not nearly so strong an odor/taste) for several years > now and we seem to get fewer, less severe colds. > > OTOH there is also supposed to be a 'die off' reaction when starting > to use coconut oil, so take it easy if you do try it. > > My two cents, > Marty > > > -- > Autism Homeschooler's discussion list > AutismHomeschool/ >
Guest guest
You could look at homeopathy... belladonna is usually helpful for breaking a fever. ossillococcinum (might not be spelled right but we've all seen the commercials)..or at least we used to till the push for flu shots. for flu Honestly I would trust echinacea over any medication. But look it up first to be sure, many herbs are safe during pregnancy, but some are not. Same with olive leaf. I think virastop is fine, it's an enzyme that dissolves the outer coating on viral cells so the immune system can kill them better. ditto on lots of C and zinc and A for viruses. You can use A but not in insane doses, sensible doses like 25,000 IU. A nice hot epsom bath is wonderful also. > > Hi everyone I was really hoping that someone would be able to point me > in the right direction re something I could take to help me keep going! > I don't want to take over the counter meds as am in the early stages of > pregnancy and am wary of meds but am feverish and feel terrible and of > course the kids esp my asd kiddo are full of energy so any help v > gratefully received thanks for reading emx >

I don't know if OLE is okay in pregnancy, but the others should be fine, so far as I know. Dana
