The Indian People's Alliance for Combating HIV and AIDS, (IPACHA) is a broad Indian National Alliance, bringing together people from various walks of lives and believes that until every facet and sector of society is mobilized, the battle is not won. IPACHA accepts and welcomes membership of like minded agencies such as Trade Unions, Student Unions, Human Rights Networks, Women's Rights Networks, Lawyers, Sex Workers Networks, MSM Networks, Media, Academia; Dalits Rights Networks, Land Rights Movements, Transgender groups, Differently abled groups, Indigenous Groups, and People living with HIV & AIDS, TB and Malaria to work together towards this cause. Vision A state where health equity and quality of life is ensured for all. Mission IPACHA's mission is to build a multisectoral alliance in India to promote: Transparency Accountability Good governance among all stakeholders in relation to health. PLHIV will form the core of the alliance. To advocate state accountability and focus on unaddressed issues. To organize social mobilization meetings for state (Regional) alliance. To create an e-group of all participating bodies to facilitate communication between the multiple stakeholders forming part of the alliance. To support APACHA by providing information on the issue of HIV & AIDS, TB and Malaria, the  latest national and regional developments, activities of the alliances, and profiles of the participating organizations. To organize a national meeting to build national advocacy initiatives and programs. The principles: A) The Alliance to be led by people living with HIV. Inclusive process with a common minimum program. C) Non-domination by any person or group. D) All resources to be shared. E) Democratic Process to be followed. MORE ABOUT US At the International AIDS Conference held in Bangkok in 2004, a multi-sectoral approach to combating HIV & AIDS was initiated. It was felt that the GIPA principle alone would be insufficient to arrest the infection and it further required a focused involvement from health activists and Thus, the Asian People's Alliance to Combat HIV & AIDS (APACHA) was launched which is a broad Asian regional alliance bringing people from various walks of life on to its platform. Such an alliance building process was initiated in various countries in the Asian Pacific region by brining into its fold several actors engaged in addressing the problem locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. In India, in 2004,many like minded agencies came together and spearheaded the process by endorsing the Peoples Charter on HIV and AIDS. In February 2009 in Mumbai the Indian Chapter was formally constituted to work on the Alliance's Advocacy and Campaign at different levels, and the group agreed to name the alliance INDIAN PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE for COMBATING HIV & AIDS†(IPACHA). All participants of the Mumbai meeting were invited to become members. 15 Executive members belonging to nine states paid the required fee and became founding members of IPACHA. WE NEED YOU! The good news is that many regional alliances on HIV & AIDS exist. However, their existence is sporadic and falls way short of the requirement. There is no single cohesive entity to combat HIV & AIDS, TB and Malaria and other health related issues in India. The necessity to have a single voice for the rights of people living with HIV & AIDS, TB and Malaria and other health related issues is a mushrooming necessity to gain Government and media attention. The Indian alliance is linked to APACHA and through this to the national alliances of other countries. We need you to join hands with the alliance for it to create a collective voice on issues related to HIV & AIDS, TB and Malaria and address such issues through collective action. What are the benefits: Creating an all inclusive network of multiple stakeholders and interest groups working directly or indirectly towards the cause of combating HIV & AIDS, TB and Malaria PLHIV will form the core of the alliance.
