Guest guest
If I want to switch from B12 injections to oral B12, how much does one give to reach a sufficient amount? What do people give in terms of a dose? Dose it have to be administered with magnesium and folinic simultaneously? Also, what if your kid has gut issues as mine does, and malabsorption problems, will the B12 still get in and do its job? Thanks. Start low and work up. I started my kids with 500mcg, which caused one of my kids to cry and bang his head because he needed it with folic acid and carnitine. So you need to learn what dose works for your specific child. Once I had the right combination and doses of other supps, I gave 5mg 3x per day for a while. It does tend to increase yeast. >>Dose it have to be administered > with magnesium and folinic simultaneously? Probably just as well as all the other oral supps you give him. I buy sublingual tablets, altho my kids just chew them. If you can get your child to hold the sublingual under the tongue, it will be absorbed that way, and not go thru the gut so much. Guest guest
Irene, If you go to http://onibasu.com you will find some posts from Andy as to the dosage and protocol for using oral mb12. I think it was suggested to start at 1 mg and work up from there. You don't have to give anything simultaneously but as always, supplements work better when given with meals and other supplements. Many can and do absorb mb12 just fine, ours did. There are some studies in Murray's book " Encyclopedia for Nutritional Supplements " or some such title that talks about the ability of even people with pernicious anemia to absorb oral mb12 well. However, some don't, but certainly worth a try over the shots.
