Students from various schools of the city tied friendship bands to the visiting children and mingled with them as a symbolic gesture of extending moral support to the less fortunate kids. The programme — a part of the two-day India International Paediatric AIDS conference that began here yesterday — was inaugurated by MLA and Chief Minister's Parliamentary Secretary S.A. Ramdas, by lighting the lamp. Students from various city schools pledged to extend help to at least one student a day and thus make their lives meaningful. Later, the 30-affected children from Maharashtra, Chennai, Delhi and other places interacted with students from Sadvidya, St. , Cauvery, Rotary West, Nalanda and Govinda Rao Memorial Schools in city. All the students who participated in the programme had undergone HIV/AIDS awareness sessions and were cautioned against hurting the sentiments of the visitors or making them feel inferior. Among the 30 HIV affected children, 15 were from Karnataka, K.S. Gururaj, Trustee of Asha Kirana Hospital told the press persons and added that the children will be attending the Paediatric AIDS conference being held in Infosys Auditorium today and tomorrow. http://www.starofmysore.com/main.asp?type=news & item=22586
