Guest guest
What kind of fish oil?? People over on the apraxia group have found that kids often need some Omega 6 along with the Omega 3 EFA's for it to " work " . Also, they seem to need higher EPA than DHA. The most popular fish oil supplement that seems to work is Nordic Naturals Complete Omega 3-6-9 (also known as Pro-EFA). Check out the group for more information. Guest guest
It looks like you've tried everything for your non verbal child. Have you tried homeopathy? Maybe you should consult a classical homeopath. From: epoxycozy <epoxycozy@...> Subject: [ ] Re: apraxia....what supplements help this Date: Monday, October 27, 2008, 1:40 PM What kind of fish oil?? Guest guest
All the things related to GABA (many of which are Rx medications) are often what works for nonverbal children. Before homeopathy I would suggest finding a chiropractic neurologist and trying that approach. Andy

Guest guest
Hi, Yes, we do use pecs at school and home. We too use a dynavox and still do. He understands how to use it ....and is sucessful w/it. He uses a lot of non-verbal communication. He'll bring me a cup for water. Get a spoon from the drawer. Make me open the fridge for food or just serve himself. Thx, > > does he have a system like PEC's? how does he communicate? my daughter did > not say one word > until age 5 when we started PEC's. she has a dynavox now and it's very > helpful for her. she will say > one or two words at the time and also will say her needs. we also did 3 > years of auditory training which > was very helpful. > kathy > > > [ ] apraxia....what supplements help this > > > > Hi, > > > > My son is non-verbal (11yrs) and we have done chelation for 1 yr or > > more and no language. Most bio-med protocols discuss the importance of using bio-medical approaches to enable your child to benefit from more traditional therapies. I have seen many children slip through the cracks while using just Speech, OT, Spec. Ed at school and bio-med when they aren't receiving ABA (VBA is ABA with a verbal-behavior concentration). Just a suggestion!! Good luck!
