Guest guest
Dear Dr. Sachin Naik, Re: /message/11652 Your posting forces me to write on this issue. Please read the following link.Traditional Indian medicine and homeopathy for HIV/AIDS: a review of the literaturehttp://www.aidsrestherapy.com/content/5/1/25 Treating PLHIV with Ayurveda without their written consent is Human Rights violation. It is a serious offence. The toxic effects of Ayurvedic medicine is difficult to measure at Clinical level. HIV/AIDS education still not introduced by CCIM (Central Council of Indian Medicine) at Ayurvedic Medical Colleges and even they are not conducting such research as per my information. If this department is doing something than I am interested to know the out come. Involving AYUSH with State AIDS Control Societies is still pending under NACP. I respect you that you are self motivated and rendering your services for the cause. The combination of Herbs or Immune modulators you are giving to PLHIV must be recommended by CCIM and WHO under the Public Health Bye Laws with reference to HIV/AIDS. In later stage when the PLHIV visit ART center or Community Care Center for Hospice Care your treatment will not be accepted by Health Care providers. An kind of clinical research needs permission from State as well as person who is voluntarily taking your medicine. Are you paying to PLHIV for conducting research on them? In lieu of volunteres participtiong in you research what are the services you are providing to him (free of cost) and how much money you are paying on regular basis to them. The MoU signed between you and those 6000 PLHIV are must be approved and monitored by Ethical Committee for conducting Research. The medical report and follow-up of PLHIV must be maintained by you and where you are summiting it. Where is the observation report of Monitoring Body under whom you are conducting it. If all the above documentations are maintained by you than I am interested to know about the funding agency and what are there modes of payment along with summary of reports. If these documents are not maintained than I want to know from NACO under the MoHFW, GoI what there officials are doing at different levels from last so many years. I know they are giving training to AYUSH doctors in Syndromic Approach treatment of STIs/RTIs. In few TIs these practitioners are working as part time doctor in few states. In this situation we are playing with life of Mankind. Lets ponder and work again before its too late, Best Wishes and Regards, Avnish Avnish Jolly, #3008,Sector-20D, Chandigarh 160020, India. Guest guest
Dear members of AIDS INDIA, Re: /message/11652 Only a few months ago a similar trial was rejected by the ethical committee in GMC, Amritsar (of which I was a part) and the arguments were the same as told by Dr. Avnish. This ofcourse is playing with the human lives and should be discouraged, stopped immediately and advertised too so as to discourage others in indulging such unlawful act. These guys may also exploit the general public telling that we are doing a study approved by NACO and thus trap the gullible. Guest guest
Hello, Re: /message/11663 Thank you so very much for your response. You can go to below link.http://www.unaids.org/en/PolicyAndPractice/HIVTreatment/TraditAlternMedicin\ e/ If unaids is saying this then please understand it.If you do not know our ancient science called Ayurveda then dont make assumptions without studying it. It will be great for people like you if us gives us ayurveda medicine in english capsule. With all due respect sir, there is a need for cost effective treatment. And if you are saying there are no side effect of ART then i am sorry sir. There is a role of ART for CD4 below 200 and also above 350 to 400. What we are doing for seropositive patients to try to keep CD4 counts above 400 and 450? Guest guest
Dear Dr. Sachin and Associates, Re: /message/11663 Don't make it personal; being a student of Ayurveda since 1991, I am actively rendering my services in this field with the best of my ability. Through e_forum we are actively advocating issues in the Human interest to render services to the mankind. My argument is that you can't just claim that you are doing research with out following any established research norms and laws. According to Chark School of Medicine we relate AIDS with Agantuaj Rakat Oaj Kashaya (External Blood Immune Disorder) where it is documented that such ailment is not curable. Hence people living with such disorder must be supported with Holistic counselling/ Care/ support (Which includes Policy, Law, Role of State, Religion etc.), symptomatic treatment and Ahar- (Diet Therapy) - Vihar (Behavior Therapy which includes their Sexual and Reproductive Rights etc . This is also in the light of (Kamsutra and Rig Veda) as advocated by Chark Sahita. Therefore Ayurvedic Practitioner serving PLHIV are providing culturally appropriate and cost effective treatment to support their Dincharya (Activity of Daily Life) under Palliative Care. However, when false claims are made in the name of Ayurveda, let me invite your attention to a noted case in India's Supreme Court, which issued a decree and also, the Kerala High Court to hear the case against Majeed (a person claim to be an ayurvedic practioner and promoted a so called aurvedic medicine) Therefore it is important that there must be some policy on the use of Ayurvedic medicine in HIV treatment. My submission is without a policy, documented evidence and the support of support PLHIV its difficult to work and it may creates additional problems. According to last Shalok of Bhagwat Gita “Those persons will win who are governed by and practice Ethical Policies " . Hope you will not take it personally, Best Wishes and Regards, Avnish Avnish Jolly, #3008,Sector-20D, Chandigarh 160020, India.
