Guest guest
I could sure use anyone's help here. We have mostly recovered our 7 yo Aspergers/ADD son, thanks in great part to your help. We thought we were having a great 1st grade year until his mainstream teacher e-mailed me and asked for a little help getting our son to pay a little more attention to her instructions. He is not a behavior problem, just a little inattentive. He is pulled-out for an hour a day, for spec. ed. I had a scheduled meeting with the I.E.P. team and when I asked if maybe a little Occupational Therapy would help with this, the OT person asked why I didn't have him on ADD medication!! We've come so far and now they are going to resort to ADD medication instead of OT!? How hard am I going to have to fight this. My son's psychologist told me that many school districts won't even consider OT until we have tried all the drugs first. WHAT!! What are my rights!? Get this, the OT lady said very haughtily that in order for her son not to have an asthma attack each day he MUST take a pill, and it would be like that for my son. I quickly informed her that MY son would not have an attack and die if he did not take Ritalin everyday. HELP! Collin is GF/CF/SF, takes Sam-E and enzymes.
